This is a great perspective. Really not worried about becton at all. Another point is they are not game planning for Lawson as they would of this were a game. This offense could neutralize a lot of lawsons effectiveness if they wanted to.
Not really concerned about Wilson's struggles. Let him struggle. One thing that was said about him was that he was a quick learner. No vet needed. We aren't winning Superbowl this year anyway. Use this year for Wilson's development. Every new game will teach him something. Let him learn on the fly. Sitting him a few games won't make any difference. If he is good and if he really is a quick learner than we will see a much better and ready Wilson next year anyway. About defense, the front 7 seems legit. Defensive Backs will define where we will end up in Defensive Rankings but if CB's can hold their own, we are looking at a Top 10 defense. And who knows, if a vet CB shakes loose, or we trade for a vet CB we might be looking at a Top 5 Defense to be honest.
We don't know what the issue is. If like Lon says his foot is still sore that could be the issue. Or maybe Lawson has taken another step forward? But if Becton is being revealed then he will face the speed rusher every game. You think it will go unnoticed? You cant have your blindside guy getting beat like this. I'd be curious to see how Moses fares against Lawson.
Is anyone really surprised our Defense is better than Offense? Our D is strong and deep. We have a top 5 front 7. The QBs we face this year won’t have the time to pick apart our secondary. On Offense, our 2nd team this year looks comparable to our 1st team any other year. Saleh wanted a QB who wouldn’t lose games and knows there’s no such thing as a bad QB behind a good line.
I think a vet would be good for the QB room at the very least. We lost our QB coach and rookies don’t know what they don’t know.
They are clearly throwing everything at Zach Wilson and not handling him with kid gloves. That means they really respect his ability and think he can handle it. We will see if that strategy works.
IMO it is getting too late to bring a vet backup in to start the season. But Wilson isn't the only player we are trying to develop this season. We've got rooks at skill positions and a new offense to master. If Zack gets hurt and our backup plays like Clemons or Falk then we are wasting development opportunities for the entire offense. It has less to do with winning as it does growing as an offense.
I’m with you. I just think it’s to late now to bring one in and start week 1. I still think we should bring one in though to add some experience to the QB room.
And what is that going to do? Force Wilson to look better against a defense that is purposely slacking? What kind of logic is this? If the athlete is struggling you don't make it easier for him/her. You work on the fundamentals to improve their abilities and react quicker. Game 1 of the season you want Saleh to tell Carolina to take it easy on our QB so he performs better?
I wish you would stand down, jesus, how the hell is asking the D to go easy going to help anything in the long term ffs
They will definitely do that in the games. They will set him up for success. Right now, they are letting him see a lot of different looks and schemes. It is good. There is not much benefit to going easy on him in practice. One day things will click and he will legitimately start carving up the defense. When that happens, Jets fans will rejoice.
Are you guys on Twitter? Wilson is getting absolutely roasted for his play in these practices. He needs a good practice in the worst way.
