I care about winning the championship!!!! We made it but its time for more. Making the playoffs is one thing but if you loose in it, what's the point; to have bragging rights that we made it. I don't think so. If we loose next week, oakland and detroit are at an advantage because they get to choose from a list of great college prospects. My philosophy is this: We win it all or we might as well loose every game and get to choose from a list of great college players. Yea we made it and hell yes I am going to celebrate my ass off to end 2006 but when tommorow come I am looking past all of the celebrations and getting my mind on winning the chip. Teams don't become championship teams by getting to choose from a better list of prospects. They become championship teams by installing a culture of winning and dominance, and by making the very best of the talent that they have. This is what seperates the Jets from the rest of the pretenders around the league.
Seriously, Dude..... there is no way that Detroit and Oakland have an advantage over us. We have talent and an excellent coaching staff in place. We have a decent front office. Neither of those teams has any of that in place. Even if we lose next week our season has been a success. I really think that we can beat Indy or the Pats, but I can't see us getting past the Ravens of Chargers. And thats okay. We're still building our program.
I think your mentality about losing them all sucks. Losing all your games makes for a miserable season. Miserable seasons are not enjoyable. I like to enjoy Jets football. Winning = Enjoyment Losing = Misery Enjoyment > Misery
MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!!! Ya gotta be in it to win it. The NFL Draft is a crapshoot especially those expensive picks at the top of the first round.
Detroit and Oakland are not at an advantage because they aren't good teams and we are. How many years in a row is it now that the Lions have had a top 10 pick? Sure seems to be working.
Sure, everyone is going to be sad/upset if the Jets do loose a game in the playoffs. But I don't see how anyone can say the team "sucks" if that happens. Hell, I'll be upset if they loose a game in the playoffs, but I am damn proud of this season. What a turn around from 4-12, to 10-6 and being lead by a ROOKIE 35 year old Coach.
People getting too hooked into draft picks. Shoot, Tom Brady was drafted in the SIXTH round. Do we need to name the Jets' frist round busts? Herm Edwards was right about one thing. "You play to win the game." Draft picks mean nothing if the player is going to a team with a poor front office, bad coaching staff or little talent. You'd really rather go 2-14 and draft first than go to the playoffs? I can't understand that. Nobody is going to win every year. The point is to have consistant quality year in and year out.
Playoffs no doubt! Top 5 college prospect is just the sign of an awful season. The Jets are IN! And now they just have to keep winning like they have the last 3 wks. This team can play with anyone in the AFC. GO JETS!
At the end of the day it all comes down to the chip. When I talk about a top 5 pick I am talking about a talent that we must have inorder to reach the ring. I understand your point but when was the last time we won back in the 60s. It is time for us to win. I'm tired of just comming close. I want to see that Lombardi trophy in mangini's hands
