Carolina is definitely regretting wasting a valuable 2nd round pick for a QB not even worth a 7th round draft pick anymore...
I am in no way rooting against Darnold, but what he did last year really fucked me on my view of him. Carolina made a HUGE mistake. As bad as our coaching staff was, Darnold is garbage. And I do not say that lightly because I truly thought we had our guy when we first drafted him. He had shown so many great moments in his first couple years.
Our DL looks like it could be a strong point this season and Darnold is complete trash under pressure. Not saying it couldn’t happen, but it seems unlikely to me.
I do not expect it to happen either but if Sam is going to have a good game I would expect it to happen early in the season before he gets beaten up mentally from too many hits and a lack of success. I would much rather play Carolina later in the season once our D gels a little, our OL learns to play together and all our rookies see the game begin to slow down. I thought scheduling this game against Sam in week 1 was a raw deal for Zach.
I'd be shocked. Darnold sucks and always has other than a few games here and there. Our fanbase way overrated him until last season when it became apparent to everyone that he just wasn't very good. If Sam has a 300 yard game vs. us in week 1 it would be only the 5th 300 yard game of his entire career. It would be quite surprising.
Yeah, but in fairness, “Does this look familiar?” could be the title to about 70% of the threads on this page.
I would be totally shocked if he lit up a good college team. He's not lighting up the Jets or any team in the NFL. He's going to be the worst QB in the league again, and it won't be close. Vs the Jets in the opener, he's only going to throw for 150 yards, complete less that 55% of his passes, and throw 3-4 interceptions. He'll be seeing ghosts by halftime.
Lawson, Q. Williams, Raskins, JFM, Curry, Huff, and Fatukasi and Sam will be seeing ghosts again. He won't even start the full year. He's getting benched (if he doesn't get injured or come down with strep throat or tuberculosis.
I would be shocked because not only does he continue to look like shit, but I think Lawson and our defensive line will feast this year and Darnold has proven, time and time again, how he reacts under pressure
A lot of green tinted Jets fans in here. It’s easy to trash Darnold now, but last year I bet most of you were praising him. Also hold your horses on the Jets dominating anyone. Still a team coming off a 2-14 season in which they lost 13 straight.
Ummmmm...you either have not been on this forum very long or you are completely oblivious to what is going on around you. Darnold was HATED on this forum last year, rightfully so. If you are referencing going into 2020, then yes, there were many of us that were optimistic about him considering he just came off a much improved second year and showed many signs of promise. There were also MANY on here that were holding 2020 as his final year to shit or get off the pot. And it is just as easy to trash Darnold now as it was all during the 2020 season. He sucks
It was mostly “Sam got screwed by having no talent around him” and “he’s objectively bad in every statistical category and has been his whole career”. Almost nobody (including his most fanatical supporters) highlighted the things he did consistently well because they were to hard to find. He never recovered from the ghost game and probably never will.
