"Just when I finally get out, they drag me riiiiight back in" ... I love your passion, but in no way can I buy into the hype until I see something different on the field. I will just be really happy if my football season is not over before October 1... Passion and interest will build from there I am sure.
I understand but at the same time not, being a fan is about being excited, if you're not excited it seems bloody pointless tbh unfortunately as a Jet's fan this is the only time of the season to get excited, the last 10 years of reality means excitement is over before September is out lol
This is the nature of being a Jets fan. It's a different species than other fans. Darwinism works in this regard as well. Subject anyone to decades of up and down - actually mostly down with an occasional burst of up to make sure they stay hooked - and this is what happens. It's probably related psychologically to Stockholm Syndrome. Anyway, speaking for myself, I wouldn't root for any other NFL team - certainly not at this stage of my life - so good or bad, I root for them. In light of all that, this year seems much different than even 10 years ago, and actually I have more optimism than I've had since the Namath years. Maybe that's just my dementia, but the combination of the young, talented roster, and high energy, competent CS harkens back to the Namath/Ewbank Era for me. I know am prepared to have Lucy yank the football away.
While I won't go so far as to predict playoffs, I think the early schedule is helpful to this young team. Average of 6 wins for the first 7 teams they play, only one with a winning record. Playing those teams early can give the team a little more time to gel before some of the tougher games. Then they still have Texans, Jags, Eagles, Phins twice and the Saints with no Brees. My original green glasses guess was 7-9 wins and 9 wins didn't even sniff the playoffs last season. My realistic guess was closer to 6-7 wins which we know will not get them there. I am happy with the direction they are heading now at least so I'll accept 7 wins just as long as one of them is over Denver. We already have our tickets, a road win would be nice. They better not have some freak early snowstorm because I am only packing shorts and t shirts.
Brook with the kiss of death on the 2021 season, lol. Honestly, if they can manage 6-11, after what they've been the last couple of years, that will mean a lot of progress and hope for the future. I'll take that in a second.
I love your optimism Brook! Superbowl or bust. Unfortunately I don't share it but I do like the idea.
We were all quietly hoping for a great season but now that Brook put it in writing we can at least hope for a good draft next April!
Thanks to Seattle's 1st round draft pick. Which will become top 5. Because they've had by far the worst offseason of any other NFL team.
It would be nigh impossible to put a worse product on the field than the last twp years. I have a good feeling about this squad. Playoffs? Stranger things have happened...
Fifteen minute after the Politics forum is closed somebody who has posted nowhere else in months pretends he is interested in Jets football.
