    Pretty remarkable outcome of the high jump. Two jumpers (Mutaz-Essa Barshim from Qatar and Gianmarco Tamberi from Italy) both had high jumps of 2.37 meters but failed to beat it. They could have gone to a jump-off, but instead asked if they could just declare it a tie and both get gold medals. They were told that they could, and agreed to do that. The two are close friends who both faced serious ankle injuries coming up to the Games. When the two were up on the podium, they each placed a gold medal on the other.

    but overall this Olympics has been pretty hard to watch, with no help from NBC's shitty coverage / program manager

    Watched the bronze medal beach volleyball match last nite. I have no idea who won or who was even playing but it was great game. I don’t even remember seeing a ball.

    Volleyball is my favorite summer Olympics game... especially the beach volleyball.
