In this video, I discuss why the Jets NEED to have strong Team Leadership and how it will propel the Jets not only in 2021, but also in the future.

Robert Saleh is a culture changer (We believe so), he is detail oriented, he is intelligent and he knows how to build trust with his players. Joe Douglas said he wanted to build "the greatest culture in sports" and Saleh is the perfect front man to lead the Jets to the promised land.

CJ Mosley and Marcus Maye are both strong leaders for the team and the defense. Mosley is a general on the field and can get people lined up where they need to be. He has a great mind for the game. Marcus Maye is a true team leader and proved that last season. Not only did he never complain during the 2-14 season, but he also stood up to Gregg Williams over the blown call against the Las Vegas Raiders. He stepped up and spoke when it was necessary. That is LEADERSHIP.

What do you guys think? Who are some other players you see as leaders or potential leaders? What do you think of the leaders I just shared in the video?

I think Frank Gore can be a good leader. It's too bad we haven't signed him.

Seriously, the following players can be leaders.

    Defense: CJ, Maye, Lawson
    Offense: McGovern, Coleman, Wilson

You’re missing an obvious one in Super Bowl winning Vet Vinny Curry.

Leadership begins at practice. The best leaders lead by example in practice by working hard, supporting others, spreading a positive attitude, and creating confidence. Good ones also help guide the development of the rookies. If they can do that they are ready to lead when they go into battle.

Most of our experienced players are on 1 year deals so hopefully one of the younger guys steps up at some point.

Ideally Zach Wilson will become a leader on offense. That is the way it should be. I don't see a lot of other leaders on offense right now. Maybe Crowder?

On defense its a little more sketchy. Basham was becoming a leader but he's gone.

Mosley is a mixed bag. He was a leader in Baltimore. But the 2 years away, including the opt out, might affect how much clout he has. If the Mosley that played opening day against Buffalo shows up he should be able to fit back into the role. That would be a huge benefit because he becomes massively expensive after this season, so its debatable if we are going to keep him around long term if he's average. At most we'll probably only keep him through next season.

Maye is a leader but ATM its looking like this will be his last season with the Jets. It would be great if Lawson shows some leadership potential.

Special teams Justin Hardee will likely become a great leader by example.

Finally got sick of people seeing it and saying, "you wanted to keep Sam!"

I'll change it to Wilson if he stays healthy through preseason.

You deserve a few weeks off. There's nothing to discuss now anyway.

Leadership starts with Zach. That was the big knock on him from the scouting report but we'll see.
