There was a lot of chatter at the time about both things if I remember correctly. The PED stuff was kind of irrelevant because he was working out with A-Rod anyway lol.

Apparently Cano's attitude changed somewhat after a couple years in the majors because his dad was a minor league player and a baseball junkie who used to make Cano take a million swings and ground balls. And then he supposedly linked up with Melky and the Yankees didn't like where it was going (PED + lighting the candle on both ends wise).

Cano should've remained a Yankee. Thanks for Ellsbury Cashman.

Nice win tonight against the cheaters.

Got a couple of cold potato strikes in the eighth and ninth, but, yeah.

He was going to pull Cole for Chapman but couldn't get Greene out of the game until he gave up a 3 run walk off. He's fucking useless.

8 games back with three teams in the division to jump, 4.5 back of the wild card with four to jump. I actually hope they lose the next couple series so Cashman wakes up and sells off. The most valuable assets are no longer as valuable anymore with Chapman sucking and Green imploding today.

Let's hope Voit and DJ lights up the next 20 days. They should take calls on Judge and try to re-sign him. Just don't ship him out to California if the right package is there or he might not come back.

If Glayber stays, I think Voit is out and DJ takes over at 1st. The infield has to change, and DJ and Gio are the best overall baseball players.

I still would prefer a catcher with defense and has the trust of the pitching staff than Sanchez, not sure I'll get that wish though.

Whoever is deciding Stanton is only a full time DH should be fired. Its insane that him playing the outfield is not even considered an option. He's barely an average DH, let alone a 300 million DH if one even exists. He's not good enough to call his own position if it's a preference thing.

As much as this team pains me, I don't think they need to totally blow it up. Change? Absolutely. They need a real SS, at least 1 starting outfielder, and a solid #2... which could be Sevvy, then they just need another good starter. No excuses, but literally everything that could have gone wrong this year basically has to go with the awful roster construction.

Good post. I think you're right about not needing to blow the entire thing up. The core is still young enough including Judge to keep together Gleyber (even though you hate him), Judge, Andujar, Urshela, Cole, Severino and unfortunately we're stuck with Stanton.

Corey Seager, Correa, Trevor Story are free agents at short, Freddie Freeman at first. Not much in the outfield unfortunately. Maybe a stopgap in a guy like Charlie Blackmon or take a crack at Conforto. Nicholas Castellanos is a really good pure hitter but he'd have to switch to left and is 30/will probably command a bigger deal than he's worth.

I'm done with Sanchez. The catcher plays a big role in managing the pitching stuff and he sucks at it. They can find 20-25 homers and .205 from other catchers that actually play the position. It's not foreign anymore.

Lol for the record I don't hate Glayber, I just think he's the most expendable in the infield and can still return a good haul despite his struggles.

I do think his swing is currently broken. He tomahawks the ball. If anything he's fixable and can be an all star potentially. I think we can all agree if he's on the team long term its at second.

I know man I was being facetious. Yes - he's a second basemen. He was fluid at second. It pissed me off when they moved on from Didi even though he's struggled with a solid 2020 sandwiched in. Too much of a free swinger for an analytics heavy team like the Yankees. Dude hacked at everything.

Yanks just took a power hitting shortstop in the draft.

Ha, you never played texas league obviously.

That's when the ump calls anything remotely close to the catcher a strike to get the game over with because his dinner is getting cold.

    What's Texas League?

Yes to the bottom part, I've just never heard the phrase.

Texas League was the littlest of the Little Leagues where I grew up.

And, yes, Dierking was an absolute star. Talk about peaking early.
