Tournament opener on June 11th - Italy against Turkey. Rooting for Italy of course. Go Azzurri, kick some Turkish ass. ESPN/ABC have US broadcasting rights.
Finland got in for the first time in history, it will be fun to watch how we do against the big boys. I doubt we have enough to go through the group stage but hopefully it starts some kind of football boom in here, hockey has always been the number one sport. I've rooted for Portugal ever since I was an exchange student there in the early 2000. But man their group is hard, France, Germany and Portugal fight it out whose going through, one big country is bowing out early, hopefully Germans. England is another that I've followed mainly because I've watched Premier League practically all my life. They have a talented team but their coach suck balls so I doubt they go that far in the tournament.
I totally disagree about Southgate. He's led the team to two semi finals and penalty shoot out wins. He's a class act, and I'm delighted he's England manager. Hopefully this will give you another perspective. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/p...UiS2vTZ7axplT_zZZe6rx0KKjEJAvbbd2R5RX3bav8-eE
Friday is the opening day. Invited friends and we are having a Superbowl type festivity. Opening game is on Friday at 3 PM. Can't wait!
You are probably right on that, maybe it's just the Villa fan in me saying it. I don't like how he has handled the Grealish situation, seems like he has something personal against him. Yes Jack is in the team now, but I bet you he won't pick him to start against Croatia, he has his favourites in Mount and Rashford when looking whose on form Grealish should start. And how Southgate left Villa for Middlesbrough when he was still playing. It's obviously safe to say that I don't really like the guy He has guided England quite far in last tournaments as you said, but I just feel you would have got even further with better coaching. Interesting to see how this tournament folds in the coming weeks.
I get the Villa thing, makes sense. I wound argue that history shows we wouldn't have got further, winning penalty shoot outs is a major, major achievement. His job now is to get Mount, Foden AND Grealish in the same midfield. That would be awesome!
The first game of the EURO2020 tournament is about to kick off, it's one of the favourites Italy vs our very own @Brook! 's Turkey. Good luck Brook! but unfortunately I don't see you get anything from this game, Italy is just that good. Turkey still has a good chance to get through the group stage, Wales and Switzerland are not as tough as Italy so you have every chance to win those teams.
Oh, I didn't know that, my apologies Brook!. In that case I don't feel bad for betting Italy to win then
Finland is about to start our first ever game in a major tournament. I didn't think I would get this nervous, but man it's getting to me. I bet there's going to be a misty eye when national anthem starts blaring. Oi, Suomi on! LFG!
Good luck today against Denmark bud. I will be rooting for your team for two reasons. 1) I want your team to make history in Finnish football and see you happy. 2) I got money on your team to not lose. A tie or Finland win will make me win my bet.
Congrats on your win. Finnish soccer history is made. Too bad it came with a drama. So glad Eriksen is alive
Thanks Brook!. We won with a bad performance, we can play much better. But you really couldn't enjoy the result after what happened to Eriksen, I'm still amazed that they decided to continue the game on the same day. Main thing is that he survived.
I just don't see the same in Southgate as you do @donkey , I'm sorry.. This team selection is bizarre for me, starting right back at left back, selecting two defensive midfielders, picking Sterling who's not been on form, not picking Sancho even on substitutes bench. Odd to say the least. And don't even get me started on Grealish
