@GasedAndConfused I just worry about Zach, GAC. he is so teeny-tiny, I don't think he could survive 18 games!
Whoa! It sounds like you're suggesting the entire NFL would go dark for two weeks during the season - that will NEVER happen! They're not giving up that kind of revenue in any way, shape, or form. The biggest part of the reason for the extra games is to extend the opportunities for producing revenue, not eliminating them. If I misconstrued the meaning of your "static" scheduling, I'd like to know more about how you you think they might be able to pull it off.
I get that and yes it was what I was suggesting but there could be a slight stagger so there aren't dark weeks in a 2 weeks span. basically 33%% of the season would have have the games in back to back weeks while the other half of the teams play. the darkness doesn't matter in the long run and they will have filler content the revenue comes from the amount of games
Nobody wants "filler content." Spreading sixteen games out over seventeen weeks has produced more revenue in total than when there was no bye; spreading eighteen games over nineteen or twenty weeks will produce more revenue than eighteen games in eighteen weeks with an "off" week or two. Competitors would view those dark weeks as prime opportunities to kidnap NFL viewers. "Never gonna happen."
Or you could just say it reduces the equivalent of 1 NFL game from 10 baseball games to 9 baseball games
Imagine if we had to play 18 games last season. 18 games would be cruel and unusual punishment for last place teams.
the idea is player safety and not making some team play 14 games in a row. the NFL is leading now more then ever towards the look of safety since they are under pressure so never say never
I am in no way suggesting there be no byes; I'm not sure two are necessary though. What brought me to comment here is your thoughts on the entire NFL shutting down for two "AllStar breaks" during the season - that would be a disaster.
I am totally on board with minor league football during the offseason. Some sort of AAA league for smaller cities and borderline players. I'd be all over it. But straight NFL rules, and no stupid gimmicks. Note: recognizing that I'm one of the approximately eleven people who watched NFL Europe regularly.
LOL Twoheaded u watched NFL Europe back in the day? who was your fav team? Amsterdam Admirals? Rhein Fire? Barcelona Dragons?
6 months of football? Heh sounds Ok to me .. The Fans will watch a nonstop war of attrition with the top teams maybe losing key players giving mediocre teams a shot at advancing in Playoffs..who knows? On the downside, all teams will have badly injured players with the scrub 4th and 5th stringers getting a lot of playing time..yep, a watered down product The NFL and Owners take the added revenue to the Bank so they are all in on the idea
Unless they have another 2020 like season. The season couldn't end soon enough. I'm hoping for at least a competitive team to show up on Sundays to consider games enjoyable. So far we are having a good off season & I expect some bumps in the road in '21, but '22 season this team should really make a big jump forward with Zach in year 2, all the Draft picks, plenty of cap space. Now that will be enjoyable.....bring on the 18 game season.
Amsterdam Admirals. Admittedly, the Frankfurt Galaxy were basically always the best team and got the most air time-- so I probably saw more of their games.
That's why I am proud I went to a college in the Ivy/Patriot League system where Tradition plays a bigger role than commercialism Power Conferences in the NCAA are the NFLs Semi Pro teams. Soon letting the kids profit from name image and likeness without allowing Direct Pay
