Robby Sabo of Jets X-Factor was very impressed with Zach Wilson in practice. He says he looked a lot better than Darnold. Quick decision making and quick release and more.

Does he have BO or does he wash with soap?

These are the key questions that determine everything.

Below is Sabo's article from a few days ago about Thursday's practice.

If everything Wilson does is quick, he may not be engaged for very long! ;)

It's early, but still...contrast the reports on how Zach is doing in OTAs with this one on Trevor Lawrence:

    Chris Simms knew!

Just kidding, it is really early. Nice to see that Wilson is looking good though and is not overwhelmed. So far I have liked everything I have seen.

Imagine Wilson being a Hall of Famer while TL being just average to above average. Will God smile on Jets or no? :)

The thing is, it's really not that early for accuracy. Zach was much more accurate than Trevor in college. Trevor may be able to improve his accuracy as Josh Allen did, but that will take some time, and he still may never be as accurate as Zach. That is why I really feel blessed that we didn't finish with the #1 pick. We'd have had to have taken Trevor, and I really don't think that he's as good a QB or prospect as Zach.

I like Sabo and think he knows his stuff, but he is over the top here. You can’t take anything from OTAs.

I disagree. You can see how quickly Wilson is learning the offense, you can see if he is accurate with his passes vs NFL CBs, and one poster a month or so claimed that Wilson was only so good and accurate because he knew the BYU offense so well. This puts the lie to that. Also, per a tweet I posted in another thread, Trevor Lawrence isn't looking too good with the Jags. He's overthrowing WRs, having passes knocked down. Of course, it doesn't really matter what they do until the games start, but we see that Wilson isn't in over his head, he's working hard, learning the offense, is still accurate, and is a reason for hope and optimism this season and going forward.

We had a lot of great stories about Sam in 2018 and 2019. Orlovsky and Romo said they thought he would be a top 5 QB. Romo thought he could be the best in the league.

Training camp optimism and hype is normal. Although, it is great to hear that Zach is ahead of schedule, that he is incredibly accurate, that he looks like he belongs, that he has great study habits, that he is able to mentally process more than expected and so on. All that gives many reasons for hope that he is the real deal. It raises expectations. But, we are so early in his development with very little information. All we have is slightly more than one OTA practice. Training camp and the regular season cannot start soon enough. That being said I loved the Sabo video and 2 articles on OTAs. I just wish we got more info. Instead we got guys like Cimini taking veiled shots at ZW because he wanted to keep Sam.

Jets coaches thought that Zach was the best fit for the offense among the draftable QBs.

less balls on the ground is good.

quick is good. quotes on his processing speed are good.

all better than what we had.

Yep, but that's not the only reason they wanted him. They loved his accuracy, playmaking ability, mobility, ability to throw from all arm angles with accuracy, ability to fit the ball into tight windows, character, work ethic, and athleticism.
