Somewhere, Lou Gehrig is spinning in his grave.

Screw all the exit-velocity talk, this guy may wind up being the next Pujols.

The IL should change its name to the Giancarlo list

Congrats to Kluber, he's pitched pretty well of late for the Yankees

holy mother of fuck with today's lineup.

What's with resting two thirds of the goddamn team at the same time? It's not like it keeps these guys healthy or something.

Cole 2.03 ERA, Kluber 2.86 ERA, German 3.05 ERA

You can win with the that. Now oyf Severino comes back we will have a great rotation. It begins and ends with pitching.

This dead ball year benefits teams like the Red Sox and Yankees where their pitching was questionable and their line ups were elite.

Now both of their rotations are good. Even in this dead ball year I think the Red Sox are overachieving. The Yankees biggest problems, BA and strikeouts, are now everyone's problems.

They gotta figure out a way to start hitting if it's not a homer or else they're toast in the post season. They're in the 20+ range in every statistical hitting category except homers and walks. Notably 28th in doubles and 21st in RBIs.

If they're going to ride a good pitching staff I'd like to see some more ways to manufacture runs. Acquiring a second basemen or corner outfielder that can handle the bat should be a focus at the deadline. I wonder if Starlin Marte (Marlins) or Adam Frazier (Pirates) will be available. Don't know their contract situation.

Good read so far. Haven't finished.

The issue with this stuff is that the exit velo/strikeout initiative starts at the bottom levels of the sport. The league didn't do itself any favors in glorifying home runs starting with the steroid era and the McGwire/Sosa era either. McGwire wasn't that bad but Sosa was a strikeout machine.

The league wanted home runs and they got them. The "productive out" is pretty much dead. But it's dumb because if you look at the Mets/Royals World Series, the Royals running buck wild on the Mets might have been the most exciting thing I've seen in a WS in a long time.

The increases velocity for pitchers is just a detriment to their own long term success too. Guys arms simply can't take throwing that hard for that long. We might never see a 300 game winner again.

Kershaw has pretty much no shot. Six 20-game win seasons away at 33 years old.

The unwritten rule stuff is nonsense. Like Tony LaRussa condemning his own guy for hitting a bomb off a fielder who was pitching. I hate the complaints over stuff like that showboating, bat flipping, etc. The league needs to embrace it's young exciting stars and their personalities if they want to draw. Let them showboat and take a pitch in the ribs their next plate appearance.

Three in a row against the first place White Sox with the starters giving up zero runs over their last 35 innings.

Voit and Kluber down. This is like rooting for a squad of porcelain figurines.
