Jimmy Morgan is 6'-4" 215lbs so just in case Wilson gets smashed, we will have a larger QB waiting in the wings.

Look, defensive coordinators get paid big bucks too. They are going analyze Wilson down to the cellular level looking for weaknesses and try to exploit them as best they can. You can bet they are going to try to rattle him with all kinds of schemes. It then becomes up to Wilson and the coaching staff to counter the pressure by making them pay. The reason we drafted him is because he is a playmaker, something the Jets have lacked for a long time, so I'm confident he can make the right choices to handle the pressure. Let's face it, for sure he will get sacked. However, the greats also kept their uniforms clean and that's because when they dropped back to pass they could process their reads quickly and make the right choice. If Wilson is as good as they say, he will do the same.

The total pressures he faced was in line with others in FBS ,came out all right. We certainly don't want him to get pressured a lot, but would be true for any prospect.

It's a valid concern but it's a valid concern for all rookie QB's as they adjust to the speed of the NFL.

    The Post is gonna Post.

File under "Dog bites man". The Post is just trying to drum up clicks and eyeballs, printing a story we here on TGG discussed ad nauseum over the past months.

I'm fairly certain this aspect is something Douglas & Co, might've considered in their decision process, and yet they drafted Wilson anyway.

I will say, Wilson can take a hit though. He was hit quite a few times, some unnecessary, when I was watching his tape. He is tougher than people realize.

Read this article this morning and when they said, "he had the luxury of playing behind a strong offensive line", I was curious.

Of the "strong offensive line" they had one lineman drafted in the 3rd.
Lawrence had one drafted in the early 2nd.
Lance had one drafted in the mid/late 2nd
Fields had one in the 2nd and one in the 3rd
Jones had one in the 1st, one in the second, and 2 more that were late picks.

Of course that does not even take into account the skill position players the others had, well maybe not Lance, but all the others had players the defense had to account for.

The Kid is far from Perfect ..yep

The Jets O Line starting to really solidify...and it will be better than what Sam had because JD wants his hand chosen QB to win and win some more

Look at our Draft and FA ..getting plenty of protections and weapons

You're not taking into account the fact that the talent level of competition that Clemson and Ohio State faced was much higher than that of what BYU faced.

I don't really feel like looking it up much deeper, but I'd imagine there was a much higher average draft position of defensive players that Clemson/Ohio State faced than that of BYU.

For what it's worth I didn't read the Post article. They're definitely not a go-to for football insight.

Brady has played almost all his career with a clear pocket does that make him a bad player?

Let's hope we get the same benefit of being allowed to hold like New England was given for two decades.

exactly and just like brady his pocket is clean more often becuase he gets the ball out fast. brady always made his o-line look better then they were. the reason fields had a high amount of pressure was he didn't get rid of the ball fast enough.
