....do you guys think Fireman Ed might agree to finally come back on a full-time basis to get our stadium LOUD again on game days, now that we have a promising HC, GM and QB combo and are finally headed in the rigth direction with a ton of excitement and optimism? If it looks like good days are ahead again and we start winning again, Fireman Ed will probably come back to lead the chants again on game days, no?
To me? Fuck him. No need for a 'fair weather' fireman ed. Give me a new fireman Ed who's been with us for better or worse the last 6 years. Right?
I don’t care if he comes back. The chant and the team will live on either way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I understand the sentiment, HomeoftheJets and FootballGod, but you cant deny that Ed leads that chant like its nobody's business and gets the stadium rocking during home games...I love it when the J-E-T-S chant is super loud bc Fireman Ed has everyone in the damn stadium fired up and rip-roarin' to go!!!
I sat next to him back in the day as a kid in the old Giants Stadium down below and he was a really good guy He’s had his issues with the team but whatever...it’s cool when he’s firing up the crowd
I had season tickets in the family since I was born, but not there lol....one of my friends had tickets next to him and I sat there for one game. It was down below on like the 40ish yard line. I was young but everyone liked him and he was nice to all of us in between chants
that's cool KingKoopa...sounds like you were definitely born into a Jets family! lucky to have had season tickets to the Jets since the day you were born!
Some may look at it as a curse but I’ll never forget the spirals at the old giants stadium as a kid during halftime...if you know, you know
He's not even the one that originated the cheer. Never liked how he got all the accolades for it in the media and TV. I knew the guys that originated that cheer. Good ole' Don Schaeffer. Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
That's them! I was just talking about the originators of the chant last week when it started at Shea & always wondered what happened to them when the Jets moved to the Meadowlands. Shea was the best. Those guys were the best. My memory was correct where they sat I mean who could forget that at Shea when they would come down to the end of the upper deck. Their seats were above the Mets dugout, upper deck. Eventually, he switched to the helmet with the double beer cans doing the chant in windy cold Shea. The best atmosphere for football games was at Shea.
There were other times that were bad (1970s, late 1980s through the mid 1990s), but the IMO the last decade has been just as bad. We have the longest playoff drought in the NFL and only one winning season in that time span. And this past season was the worst since 1996 with the added injury that once again, we missed out on the "generational" QB prospect.
