Darrisaw is an LT that doesn’t even have the skill set to move inside and play in an outside zone scheme.
Agreed Turk. This type of shit has pushed me away from TGG for 4 years now. I’m excited about the potential for a new era. We are building in the right places and pushing the shit out (coaching and upper management). We should embrace the changes and support the movement towards a well rounded TEAM. Oh dont get me wrong. I love the pick, but I also loved Jenkins. I am conflicted if I would have stayed put and taken Jenkins or did that trade up.
LOVE the pick. But wow they gave up a lot for him. But if he becomes a high end starter it'll be worth it
High risk, high reward. Could be part of a long term foundation. We are in a good position going in to round 2. A lot of talent left. We need to make the best out of the next 2 rounds.. whether it be trade back or pick “our guy”.
Quite simply, Alijah Vera-Tucker was the best offensive guard in the Pac-12 this season. 6 pressures allowed on 537 pass plays No. 1 @PFF_College pass blocking grade for Pac-12 guards No. 1 @PFF_College run blocking grade for Pac-12 guards
Could have sat still, kept our picks and had Darrisaw (the better player) ... happens every single time a team trades up for anything other than a quarterback. EDIT: Hell, we could have sat still, kept our picks, and drafted Tucker at 23 (where he definitely would have been available). EDIT2: Hell, we could have sat still, kept our picks, drafted Darrisaw ... and then drafted Tucker at 34 (where he would have been available).
I couldn’t fathom suggesting the Jets take a LT when they just took one last year and desperately need interior help.
AVT at OG is a very good pass blocker and an excellent down field blocker in the run game. Straight up excellent when he gets to the second level. I never saw a run play where he didn't block all the way through the whistle. I thought he was only okay at OT, but stellar at OG. If we put him at LG next to Becton, Wilson isn't going to have to worry about his blind side. It will be the Jets' best Left side since Brick & Faneca. AVT will be better than Slauson, who was pretty good.
This thread is an embarrassment. This was a tremendous get for Douglas. He’s the best guard in the draft. Kiper had him 10 on his board. This wasn’t a reach, it was a smart move and all you read is a bunch of morons putting it down.
They aren't accustomed to the Jets taking a polished player. They need some unrealized potential to hope for.
LaFleur must love this guy for the system if they were willing to trade up to 14 for him, it means they probably had him graded a lot higher than 14.
