People need to realize the Jets ain't fixing all their needs with this draft, whether they keep all their picks or not. It's gonna take through next year's draft to even come close. The main goal of this year's draft is to help Wilson develop in what's going to be a brutal division and then fill in the pieces around the rest of the team by the end of next year's draft.

In 2020 we REALLY REALLY needed a top WR after using #11 on Becton, but JD still traded back b4 tagging Mimms. That took balls to do that, but it worked out.

With that in mind, I think we REALLY REALLY need a top DB in this draft, and I'm HOPING we get help there at 34. But JD being JD will probably trade back, just like with Mimms, and still get a really good DB. If we don't come out of this draft with a top DB, it's all been for nothing.

That being said, I can see JD trading back up into the first to get his guy if he's still there at 30/31/32. What a fantastic draft this would be if this happens, or he stays put and gets his man, or he trades down and STILL gets his man!

So far I'm pretty impressed with how JD is building the team and runs his draft room.

We have Fant who is serviceable and three studs at LT, C, and G.

We do not need to add a pro bowl lineman with other holes elsewhere.

OL is a luxury pick now.

I was just thinking about that. Darrisaw lasted until 23 which surprised me. I can't see Jenkins being there at 34, but if he is, overnight we may get a ton of calls.

Wow Pitt just got the best RB in the draft. Impressive. They know how to draft.

Etienne or Moore at 34 please although the value is there to take an athletic project defensive end. That miight be the better move tbh

JD did not trade down from 2.

JD moved up from 23 to get his guy.

I would not be surprised if we stay put at 34.

Other than QB, Jets have not selected an offensive skill position player in the 1st Round in the past 13 consecutive drafts. Last one was TE Dustin Keller, who was picked #30 overall in 2008. This is second to the Pack, who have gone 18 consecutive drafts without selecting one. Steelers were at12 consecutive until their most recent pick. Now if the Jets can only figure out how to build an offense with this strategy, like the Pack and Steelers were able to do so.

They always let the board fall to them, and always somehow still get a lot of value in their picks.
I think it’s because they never really chase needs in the draft.

I'd like Humphrey or Jenkins at 34 if there.

Like I said, if a stud CB is there and JD took him, I'd "tolerate" it :D but as NYJfan10 just posted, we're not going to fill all the holes this draft, and THE MOST IMPORTANT thing is to make sure the QB they just took works out. If they err on the side of doing that, it makes more sense to me.

Drafting Mims followed by signing Corey Davis means that WR will probably wait.

Plus the left side of the line is most important and AVT projects well there.

Once you get on top you can afford to do that.
