I don;t know where I got that weight from...I can't find the link, so my bad. I don't know whether Wilson will fill out, but if you look at his dad, he's a big dude, Maybe Zach won't grow that big, but I suspect genetics will rule and he'll fill out. Still, it's not like he's going to be the smallest QB in the NFL.
You probably got it on here. I’ve seen it posted several times. I just finally decided to set the record straight.
Absolutely right. But even the "article" that started this thread was only one reporter hearing that Zach made a call. That was it. Really no information provided. It's how things roll these days. Then, once the headline is out, it takes on greater significance from the "news" being repeated - for the reasons you've stated. So, being cynical, I made light of it all. I'm not sold on Zach Wilson, so it's making me uneasy that we're locked in on the choice at #2. Not saying it's the wrong choice, but I am more unsettled about this than just about any major Jets decision recently.
Being so close to the draft, we better be locked in on someone. If there isn't a general consensus on who the QB should be at the pick, we'd have problems. Get a head start on the QB with your playbook or discussing the offense with a condensed preseason.
With the pandemic I've seen even less college football the past year then normal so I've never seen him play. I know it's wrong to only favor the guys from the big schools who we see in the bowl championship series, but it's hard not to. Athletic and size-wise I don't see much difference between him and Sam Darnold. They say Zach has a better throwing arm but I don't see it. I doubt he's tougher than Sam, and he's had shoulder surgery. But he didn't need to impress me, he needed to impress our coaches and GM which it appears he has. (and Chris Simms) Edit: Since posting that I've done nothing but watch Simms continually praise Zach Wilson, and yeah, it helps.
We all have our doubts. We will not really know until we see him play in the green and white. We also all thought Darnold was a can't miss.
That's actually part of the reason I feel this way. Though I had Josh Allen as the QB I wanted them to take three years ago, it was because i didn't expect to have a shot at Darnold. When we took Sam, I forgot about Josh Allen and was THRILLED to to have him. The main point here should be that we finally have coaches and a GM working in synch, and building from the ground up. Everyone seems to think we have the right architects and engineers. If they are sold on Zach Wilson (which it sure seems they are, especially with the timing of the Darnold trade) then I have to be all for it. This isn't Adam Gase's decision. But, I have my doubts, just, well, because. Burnt too many times.
His arms is better than Darnolds. Wilsons arm isn't elite but he's definitely got more zip on the ball than Sam. Athlete wise...yea I suppose they're similar. Though Wilson is way more heady an athlete, takes care of the football far better than Darnold. Wilson has a higher football IQ Regarding toughness...Wilson is the better competitor. Confident, cocky a bit. But far more tenacious. Darnold I saw too much of that California cool meh whatever. I'm sure he cared and worked hard but he did not inspire faith and confidence
Maybe you realized that taking any of these QBs with the #2 pick is reaching. Does it kinda feel like this:
you are going to owe Zach an apology when he turns into a perennial pro bowl QB and leads us to multiple super bowls, ouchy.
Its not that there isn't some chance Wilson could become great. Its that you don't take that chance with the number 2 pick at the beginning of a rebuild. We are reaching for a QB with our biggest gold nugget in 25 years. I don't agree with that form of rebuilding.
You sound like a teenager that has just discovered the Jets and is testing out their fan muscles. The Jets have taught you better than this.
Ok, that's a new one. I remember Kellen Winslow being arrested for being a creep, but don't remember Josh McCown being porn addicted, lol.
