https://www.nfl.com/news/gil-brandt-s-hot-100-1-0-top-prospects-in-2021-nfl-draft-class Wanted to post this as Gil has been around for a long time and was instrumental in pioneering the systems that are used to scout prospects. If you read his previous scouting reports on guys like Rice, Montana, Ed Too Tall Jones, he has been pretty spot on in his assessment of players. These are his rankings of prospects eligible for draft.
If you click on the players name it gives more information. It also gives the numerical grade that Joe Douglas uses.
I've looked over a lot of these boards and I don't know what Brandt's history is with successfully rating prospects. But I will say this - his rankings look a lot different than most others. I think that's a good thing. Every year there are a ton of guys that to much higher than what ESPN or other mainstream idiots project. That Auburn corner from Auburn (who I still think was a reach) to Miami sticks out in my mind and the interior lineman that usually go at the backend of the first. If you look at the backend of the 2018 draft, I don't remember a lot of those guys being projected first rounders.
That’s why I decided to put up his rankings, he has a great history, has been around the NFL in particular with Cowboys during his prime years and he helped to establish the foundation on how prospects are scouted. He’s had his misses as well but he brings a lot of wisdom and experience from being and end user not just a talking head. He has a fresh take on the players and I wanted our guys to get a fresh perspective on some of these guys. Ohio State Guard Davis is not even on the list, yikes.
Really interesting seeing this list and comparing it with where these dumb draft games have players rated. Many of the player Brandt had as top 70 picks are low 3rd, 4th and even 5th round picks in these dumb games.
If the draft falls like Brandt has players rated, JD has his work cut out for him fixing the OL. He'll have to trade up for Jenkins, then trade back for Humphrey.
Good ol’ Gil always influenced by the pro day numbers. Although his revised ranking is better than his first
