I'm having buyer's remorse over the Sam Trade. All the mock drafts seem to be leaning towards taking CB (which we need) and again ignoring the Jets glaring holes on offense. Now of course mock drafts are usually never correct but we will not get a stud RT if we grab Farley at 23. Nor will we get one of the top tier WRs which we need. More importantly Miami is probably going to take Chase or Pitts which will drive me nuts for the next 4 years.

When you look at the 18 million it would cost to keep Sam and th shit load of draft capitol we would get for trading the pick I just don't like it. I think the worst thing that would happen is Sam didn't work out and we had a boat load of picks. And please don't tell me there are no good QBs coming out next year. QBs are the flavor of the year. Just look at this crop? Wilson was competing for a job this year and Lance was an unknown. So was Joe Burrow last year. Obviously it is a crap shoot, but my gut is telling me this is not going to go well. Now I"m a suffering Jet fan since 70 so I have seen my share of bad picks. As the philosopher Hegel said, HIstory always repeats itself as humans are incapable of learning from their mistakes. Let's hope history is wrong.

That's not the point, you should show Pitts or Chase HIGHLITES and think what might have been.....Keeping Sam was temporary...missing out on the top talent to burn your #2 on a replacement for Sam is permanent.

Well Wilson throws off platform so we’re set. Look at Mahomes.

QB is the most important position in football, he has to be surrounded by talent to be effective. Finding a FQB has to be something teams need to strive to do on a consistent basis.

There will always be an elite WR in next years draft, the same can’t be said for the position of QB.

Sam was not a good QB and his back foot throws even with time in pocket showed his deficiencies, it’s time to move on.

Jets may have a stud WR in Mims but unless they can solidify the oline and get a QB that can play the position better than Sam did he may never flourish.

DK Metcalf had Wilson, Ben made it possible for Claypool to transition into a solid WR. Justin Herbert had an excellent transition because of his WR.

Bottom line is Jets need a QB and Sam was not it.

  7. Early mocks for next class have as many as 6 QBs going 1st round many in the top 10.

Also, there have been plenty of lean WR draft classes. Recently the talent had been better. But other than perhaps Mims we’ve failed to take advantage & nobody ever seems to want to address offensive skill head on. Having dynamic playmakers is no longer an option its a neccessity

Too early for me, I’m sure it will all change when and if they play any college football. Look at what has happened this year, no one though Wilson would move up the boards like he has.

I’m in agreement that Jets need playmakers but without a QB those guys aren’t going to make plays. Jets need both, a FQB and playmakers.

You say the QB is the most important, then go on to say the TEAM around him is just as important. I agree.

But we MIGHT have already had our QB, but we DEFINETLY did NOT already have our TEAM to surround him with.

  10. Im fearful we’re going down the same road again where we take the presumed FQB,fix the OL but otherwise going right back to ignoring offense.

We already have columnists & fans on twitter w the annual song & dance of “golly gee (insert young QB’s name here) needs playmakers but the team has too many other needs. It will have to wait.”

What do you think of getting Anthony Schwartz on day 3? I see a guy with speed who needs to develop, but can be a threat to go the distance anytime he gets the ball.

Dont know him. Post some highlights maybe? Save me from looking it up!

  13. Think thats the kind of move we’re likely to see.He can fly; we’ll see if it translates to big plays at the NFL level.

What’s your interpretation of a team to surround him with?

I ask this because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were loaded on defense and had a good offense, not a great offense. Mike Evans was their only 1000 yard receiver, he had 1037 yards for the year.

They also didn’t have a 1000 rushing yard RB, so how where they a top 5 offense without having dominant offensive players?

They had a lot of good football players on offense, and were a balanced offensive team.

The only true dominant offensive player was Brady, he passed for 4600 yards and threw 40 TD passes. He was able to use all the players on offense at any given moment in a game.

I’m 100% confident you replace Brady with Darnold and the Buccaneers don’t win 11 games let alone the SB.

I know it’s hard when we are emotionally invested in the players on Jets but it was time for Sam to reset his career as well. It’s not the first time it’s happened with a QB and it won’t be the last. Goff, Mariota, Tannehil, Stafford...etc

Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct answer, Darnold is not a FQB. Good character, professional, good teammate are admirable qualities but at end of day he needed to be replaced.

I think I was on the record as saying I hoped the Jets kept Sam and traded the No. 2 pick for a huge haul of picks to build a solid roster. It didn't happen though, and now I am all-in on whoever our new QB will be.

This team will kill you if you play the woulda coulda shoulda game. Keep looking forward and do not look back. The view is not pretty.

    Totally agree.

I believe it was a big mistake not to trade down and get picks and give Sam 1 year without Gase, Bates, and garbage o line etc. The Jet fan base is toxic. I hope Im wrong, we will see. We could have filled many holes with those draft picks and now we will start anew with a small quarterback who I hope can take the hits

The Jets need a QB, TE, and oline.

I don’t believe in Herndon anymore, way to streaky at this point in his career and should not be dropping passes at the rate he does.

Corey Davis, Crowder and Mims should be a good receiver core if Jets can get someone to play QB at a professional level and get him some protection.

This new scheme on offense is going to live or die by the linemen they draft, if Jets don’t address oline, it’s back to square one in a couple of years no matter who the QB is.

I think Joe will go QB, oline and WR with first three picks.

Good God that was awful to watch. Even with a clean pocket and time, he still managed to throw it to the wrong team. His INT's almost always came at the worst time and too many went for 6 the other way. I'm not going to miss Sam one bit. Good kid but I'm ready to watch competent QB play.

Herndon gets this season from me. I'd like to see what he can do in a non-Adam Gase offense that features the TE.

I’m not a Darnold hater, I was happy when Jets drafted him, I was against giving up the draft capital Jets gave up, because I wanted Jets to pick up plug and play players with all the capital they had.

That being said, your observation about him throwing interceptions even when he was given plenty of time in the pocket has nothing to do with who the HC is.

That is a QB who cannot process information fast enough and can’t read defenses, it also shows his continuous inability to set and throw properly, indicating bad mechanics. He carried that over from college. I’m happy Jets moved on from him.
