If we get Ramsey which is a HUGE mistake. WE will pick a RB in the 1st round. Ramesy will be eat alive by the NY media. I would rather have Bollinger our #2 than Ramsey. Ramsey would be a good price for a 5th round pick but not a good fit. Also if we have to give up a 3rd rounder next year it would really suck. I feel our 3rd rounder next year will easily be in the 65-75 range. No way is Ramsey ranked as high as the top 100 kids coming out of college this year or next year. Whitehurst at #68 this year would be much better.
Dude, picking up a POTENTIALLY solid NFL QB with experience for a 4th or 5th round pick is a no brainer. Throw in his age, and it is even more of a no brainer. YOU WOULD RATHER HAVE BROOKSIE THAN RAMSEY?? YOUR NUTTY MAN!! CAN I HAVE A HIT OF WHAT YOUR SMOKING?
do you guys think that drafting offense right now is going to really matter now? we still have NO QB id rather take A.J. hawk , ive been saying this forever. we can draft qb in later rounds. take a great LB while you can. it would be great for 3-4 defense.
Drafting a QB would be to risky. What if penny heals up nicely? We would have a good back up in ramsey. What if ramsey plays very well for us, we have a great beackup in penny. Cutler would sit for a long time and we would have spent a draft pick that we wont actually use for years. We can draft a position we can use right away, and if none of the QB's this year workout, we can draft brady quinn next year maybe. This year is suppose to be a learning year anyway. And if it isnt a learning year, then one of our QB's must be doing well right? We wont need cutler.
With or without RAmsey if Cutler is available to us we are gonna take him. I don't think the FO sees Ramsey as the Qb of the future. All he is is veteran competition for Chad or the fall back plan if Chad can't go.. Our first pick will be Leinart or Cutler..
Anything is possible at this point. But I think if Ramsey is here, we target Ferguson and Williams at 4.
it can't be. it would be stupid. only if there was a p. manning out there. otherwise we will probably get in same situation as before, cap prob, from a qb who didnt live up to hype. it's a complete risk and you guys know it.i rather go defense with 1st pick.
im saying ramsey or penny or the answers, no way in hell they are. im saying get a great d prospect rather than qb early. there is enough qb's out there to pick in 2nd or 3rd round.
If the Jets get Ramsey for a 5th rounder this year (and whatever next) and Abraham is traded, I'd greatly prefer Mario Williams at 4 to any other player. Also, if that happens forget the 3-4, it'd make no sense to switch to it. We'd be limiting the effectiveness of three of our better young front 7 players (Vilma-less help, Robertson- ? at NT, and Williams- one of a kind in 43).
If we sign Ramsey, then we trade our #4 pick for the house and get an extra 2nd round pick as a minimum.
I also don't understand how people are so down on Ramsey, yet some are fine with going with an unproven rookie (Young, Cutler, Whitehurst, Croyle, Jacobs). Better yet, some are even fine with handing the reigns to Brooks Bollinger once again. Three things: #1) I'm not convinced anyone in this draft (save Lienart) will be better than Ramsey. #2) IMO Brooks Bollinger is a solid 3rd string QB at most, with potential to eventually become a reliable #2. #3) With Ramsey, you're getting a young QB who has game experiance (at a very cheap price). Like a few people have said, if it doesn't look like it's going to work out after this year (with either Ramsey or Penny), we can always look for a QB in the draft next season. There is minimal risk in going this route.
I don't see whats wrong with bringing in Ramsey..he has a strong arm and the kid is tough..does anyone want to go through what we did last year with two quaterbacks going down?? i sure as hell don't..think about it Ramsey got sacked more times then you can count behind the redskins Oline..granted most were his fault for holding onto the ball to long but the kid got up everytime and continued to play..and with the way our line is shaping up right now and if it doesn't improve we aren't going to want pennyboy back there taking a beaten so they can atleast throw Ramsey in there to take the beating..hes use to it..lol
Mel Kiper Jr. says if the Jets trade for Ramsey, they will not draft a QB high in the upcoming Draft. Kiper says if the deal goes down, the Jets will either select D'Brickashaw Ferguson, or trade down.
First off. There's no way Ramsey is taking over this team ever. We MUST get that idea out of our heads.....
Bringing in Ramsey is a great move, but he's not the long term solution. QB may still potentially be the way to go in the draft. This is how I see it. -Ramsey is our starter on opening day next year if Penny isn't healthy. -Penny is most likely gone after this year. See the next point: -Ramsey will most likely be given an extended contract with a roster bonus due at the beginning of next season. At that point, either he or Pennington(more likely) will be cut and the other will receive a renegotiated deal. The one that stays, battles it out with a young QB for the starting job.
Do you honestly feel that Tommy Maddox would be able to come in and take over? If Pennington isn't fully healed, and we do trade for Ramsey, he will be our starter in 2006.
