Yes, I know. I just wanted to re-iterate. I don't understand why they didn't draft another QB the next season. I don't get it.
Mac's stubborn pertinacity to admit he had made a huge error that's why and then to go Safety Safety in the next draft (both his best picks tbh but still lol)
I never understood it; I had hoped that maybe Mac knew something we didn't and we'd end up with the next Russell Wilson or *gag* Brady. Turns out we were right: Biggest head scratcher since Bradway traded a 1st round pick for a backup tight end, then used the 2nd round pick on a kicker.
If memory served me right, Bill O’Brien, Hack’s former college coach, traded up one pick ahead us. I think that scare made Mac select Hack earlier than he planned.
Saw this today, good read. The 1-in-1,300 draft pick the Jets would like to forget -- Christian Hackenberg https://es.pn/32fj182 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am asking myself, how can that be a good read and do I really want to open it and relive the nightmare again?
I was one of the dummies that thought the move was brilliant. right out of the old redskins playbook where they looked for a certain type of athlete and then developed them for a couple/few years before even considering them as a starter. Ultimate grade: F- projecting college talent is among my weakest of many weaknesses On the flip side i get high marks for loyalty having remained a fan for over 50 years despite living in Boston and seeing many other Boston transplants switch allegiances to the Pats
this is true, but when O'Brien didn't pick him at that point, Macc should have reassessed. IMO the bigger moral of the Jets story is a truly abysmal history in the second round. You can go back a long way and see a lot of picks that busted for one reason or another. I'd be truly surprised if any team in the league is worse in the second round
But it pretty much covers the whole story of it, and some info I never knew. But you are right, do I really want to remember another 2nd round fail, this no less painful than the others. Personally, I have more pain with the wr smith pick out of Ohio St. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Out of interest why? I thought he was an unlucky bust for us, no injury concerns and then injuries, last seen still playing for the Cowboys or was that 2019?
I read it, another QB with shattered confidence, the surprising thing was Marshall's initial assessment of him, that would have made Mac the man if it came true lol god damn Jets
Interesting article by Cimini, and lots of good posts here... but has anyone posted the Gruden QB Camp with Hackenberg, yet?
In Summary, He was ok is Freshman year sucked his Sophomore and Junior years and the Jets drafted him in the second round. Brilliant!!
