You would think at some point, after going through so much horrible shit as NYJ fans, we would all be universally aligned In these ways by now?

Isn't that supposed to be the process of life? You go through shit, so you can learn from said shit, and, ya know, be better for it In the end?

When does that happen for this fan base? It's insane. In the literal sense of the word.

How are people still okay with settling, year after year? Over and Over. Rinse and Repeat.

    Insane.

  2. 100% Agree.

    It's twilight zone worthy.

Just rest assured you aren't alone in your bewilderment & frustration.

This is the same reason why I've gotten so angry over the years about the lack of focus on offense in the offseason. Fans have been conditioned that no matter how pedestrian to terrible our skill talent is...there's always an OL or LB spot that takes precedent. It's maddening that folks arent unified in desperation for some offensive excitement. The demand for octane ends w. OL & a new QB every 2.5 years. After that it's back to filling holes on D.

Who's okay with settling? I know I'm not. Unless you're saying that wanting Wilson is "settling". Is wanting Fields "settling"? Speaking for myself, I believe Wilson is the best prospect since Mahomes and Watson, so to me that's far from "settling". From the massive number of comments here for Wilson or Fields, I don't they feel like they're settling.

Now, being okay with going forward with Darnold as the starter, that would be settling IMO.

There are posters here who have made comments that they just want a competent QB, one who is better than Sanchez or more consistent than Sam. I don't understand that, either.

I have my suspicions that their posts might be aimed at those who like a different QB than the one they do, but have no proof of that.

While I think they're very good prospects, I would be "settling" for Fields or Lance as I think Wilson is the superior prospect.

This wasn't a Wilson Vs Fields thing. Not everything Is right now.

The point Is.. The mentality that some have as fans, STILL, Is that we just want better than - Sanchez, Darnold, Geno, Etc...

Fuck that. I want the best QB we can possibly get because we as fans deserve to have a Top Tier QB as fans. A top tier offense.. Etc..

It's a mentality that I see, I just wish that mentality would die a horrible death and we as fans can finally conclude that we want the very best for our team because we fucking deserve that shit.

    Ya know?

    It doesn't matter.

I have my personal belief In the QB that Is better.

Ultimately I don't give a shit as long as the QB turns out to be the best we could've had at #2.
Don't get this shit wrong, JD.
Don't expect us to be okay with "better". It's time that the culture changes with this team, It's time the mentality changes with this fanbase.
We deserve the best. Not, better.

Obviously this team should've taken a lot of different steps, made a lot of different choices, should've done a lot of things differently for the best of this team. That hasn't happened. What's done, Is done.

It doesn't excuse anything though. Things need to change.

  7. You've been on record more than once stating that Wilson is not on a Mahomes, Rodgers or even Allen level & that he doesn't have that type of upside. So which is it man? Cause if he's not on that level he isn't elite. And if he's not on that level why is he be spoken of in the same breath?

The idea is he to take a QB who can go head to head w. those types, right? Yet we're admitting before we even select our supposed savior that he isn't on the same level short or long term as several of his competitors.

What's the definition of "Settling" exactly?

Most believe Justin Herbert is an elite level QB. Do you think Wilson is as good of a prospect as Herbert? How bout Lamar Jackson?

Disclaimer: NOT ONE QB MENTIONED IN THIS POST WAS TAKEN IN THE TOP 3.

It is hard for me to imagine that JD and RS would be settling for anything but the very best available for their system with each and every pick. For the second pick, it should be someone with the potential to be a FQB. We might disagree on the pick, but we should all agree that we as Jet fans must demand from the organization to raise our standards significantly and become a contender. First steps with JD and RS are good ones, but now the focus is on strengthening the roster across the board. We don’t need 22 super stars, but we will not settle for a team of backups if they played elsewhere. We need the mind set that says winning is everything, and we aint settling for anything else.

    Thanks for a great Post

Right away you see this kid Wilson has a skill set to throw run and make plays that is beyond Sam D..FTR if Sam and Wilson came out for the Draft this year he would be rated head and shoulders over the USC QB

Talent Talent Talent ...let's Sign this Beast!!!

  10. But where's the reasonable middle ground sales pitch surrounding Wilson?

You have folks elevating his skill set to unrealistic levels that realistically SHOULD be the standard for a QB w. his red flags going 2nd overall..

..And then you have folks freely admitting he's not on an elite level short or long term but that we should take him anyway bc he might be better than Sam was & we'll never be in position to draft a QB ever again..

    Both are equally off putting

I'm 100% with you! I absolutely want the best QB, and a great offense for once! If Wilson (or Fields or whomever JD takes) isn't the guy, then I want them to draft another guy in a year or two or three, whenever they first realize that he isn't the FQB they thought he would be.

I'm cautiously hopeful though that one of these guys is finally the one we've been looking for. And that Douglas will do what Macc failed to do: surround him with talent and give him a good CS. If I'm wrong about that last part, it won't matter who the QB is.

I think Wilson can go head to head with Mahomes and Rodgers, even if I don't think - at this point - he's as good as them. I think Wilson is better than Rodgers and R. Wilson coming out, not quite as good as Mahomes. If I didn't think so, I wouldn't want him on the Jets, because I do agree with you: I don't want the Jets to be "just good enough" to maybe get into the playoffs every so often and do a "one and done". If they had stayed with Darnold I think that would've been the likely ceiling. I get that you disagree that Wilson is that good. I'm not going to change your mind, nor is this an attempt to rehash thatr argument. But saying that my wanting Wilson is "settling" isn't the case.

And yes, I think Wilson is as good a prospect, at least, as Herbert, and better than Lamar Jackson.

Understood. But my response was not about a Wilson issue, although I do like him, Nor Fields or Lance thing for that matter. I like them too. It was about compromises. Whomever JD and RS pick, there should not be a middle ground, it’s because it was considered to be the best fit for this new offense. What the fans here believe has zero bearing on the selection, nor will they be the ones accountable if it’s a bad miss. It’s on the leadership head.we must hope they get it right.

I think Wilson and Fields have elite potential...Just the same way I had thought Darnold could be FQB.

I don't want a mediocre qb at #2 who just manages a game, I want someone who can pick everyone up on his shoulders and be a difference maker.

I think the last 15 years...honestly since we moved on from Pennington and entered Favre era its been a roller coaster with QBs.

I dont want to worry about the position for the next 15+ years at least

Interesting enough, all the draft experts have said Wilson isn't like a Trubisky situation. If the niners could draft Wilson at 3 they would, if the Falcons can at 4 they would, along with the other QB hungry teams in top 10.

That means people are seeing something here in the ability, makeup, and potential. No experts I have heard have also said he needs to sit and learn for while.

People think Wilson is ready to play as well as Fields

  16. I know you dont care..but i pay little to no attention to “experts”.They get paid for an opinion & to create hyperbole.Anointing and elevating QB2 when theres no pre draft drana surrounding QB1 is media 101.

The only thing illl say is its interesting any “expert” who likes Wilson is a genuis & anyone critical is immediately torn to shreds. It really is a turn off in the spirit of reasonable debate. Folks seem to be looking for affirmation rather than impartial information.

Bout the only thing i agree w is Wilson can play early..which i suspect plays a large portion to do w the mass affinity.

To each his own i guess. Bitter pill to swallow for someone who sees right through this TBH

  17. Well we couldnt disagree more w the first part & im really tired of the argument...

My point is simple..i know we disagree vehemently about the quality in question but simply..

Dont feed me a $100 burger & tell me its steak when theres Ribeye down the street for $75.

Wilson vs Fields isn’t easy as some post on here. I believe both are going to be really good. This is one of the best QB classes we’ve seen. I think whoever goes to SF will be the better player in the first few years just because of all the pieces they have in that offence in place with Kittle, Deebo, Aiyuk, Mostart, solid OL and most of all Kyle Shanahan. Plus that D will keep you in games.

So I really don’t think it comes down to the prospect here both Wilson/Fields are good players and either will make our pick look bad to the common fan. The guy who goes to SF will definitely play better at the start but the best player will eventually come through.

Whoever it is we need to be patient because we have a lot of picks in 2022 to put more play makers around Wilson/Fields. The way JD is building we can be there in 3 years if we hit some picks out of the park.
