?

If we tradeup with Denver to #9, who would you take other than a QB?

On Twitter I saw someone suggest that the Jets should try to trade the 23rd pick, Sam and a 3rd round pick to the Broncos for their #9 pick since Elway supposedly loves Sam.

Would you do this? If so, who would you take?

    If not, why not?

Neither Chase, Pitts, nor Smith are likely to be there at #9, but for purposes of our poll, let's say that they are there.

Brook! I think more people will see this here rather than in the draft forum, and since it involves Sam, please leave it here at least a few days. Thanks!

A lot of experts on here think Jets be lucky to get a 2022 4th for Sam, but THIS HERE is the kind of value I think Sam has.

Pitts if he fell that far but if not, time to finally replace the Revis size hole with Patrick Surtain II

Pitts. We need our own George Kittle.

If he's gone, the versatility of Slater would be useful.

If Pitts or Chase were on the board it would be hard to say no to that trade.

I wouldn't. If there's anything we've learned over the years is that the best chance to win a Super Bowl is to have the better quarterback. We now have the unusual situation of having up to 5 quarterbacks deemed worthy of a top-5 pick in the draft. Getting at least the second best of these would in the long run increase our odds of getting to and winning the Super Bowl.

I think Sam is a sterling gentleman with unusual untapped ability as a quarterback. However, I think Wilson, Fields, and Lance are better. By drafting one, we get to reset the clock financially and emotionally. Also, giving up 2 draft picks for 1 pick is no way for a team with multiple holes to address the draft.

We would still have the number 2 pick my friend? The question is trading the #23 a third-rounder and Sam for the number 9

So in essence a QB and another top 10 pick

Thanks for the correction. I had a brain fart which I prefer to attribute to my current flu-like symptoms after getting my second COVID shot rather than my apparent progressing senility. I still don't like the idea of trading 2 picks for 1, though.

I don't mind an extra third-rounder if it means we got Pitts or another top ten talent tbh.

I still haven't had one shot yet, the wife has had her first though.

I had virtually no reaction whatsoever to the first shot, and I heard that the Pfizer vaccine was the easiest of the 3 (or 4). So I was surprised when the second shot hit me like a ton of bricks 6 hours in. Good luck with your shots!

Draft Pitts, ask him what number jersey he wants and set a date in 2033 to retire that number.

On second thought, it would be hard to turn down this deal if Pitts is sitting there at 9. I changed my mind (still remember the radio skit, "Is this one any better?").

Yes I would do this trade, as there will be a great selection to be had this year with so many QBs going early.

Pitts likely gone but Slater, Chase and Surtain all great options also.

No worries NC. I try not to react right away. I let threads to mature nicely before I move them to appropriate forum. Your wish granted. :)

This is probably dumb and irrational, but I would rather trade Sam for a 2nd rounder than do this trade.

The poll trade leaves us with 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. My trade gives us 6. Granted, the #9 pick gives us a much better chance to land a premiere player. But with where our roster is I’m more interested in volume of picks, especially in a draft that’s reportedly very good and deep at WR, IOL and CB which are all important positions that we need badly.

If we end up with Kyle Pitts, he'd be our fastest WR on the team (or close). I know he's listed as a TE, but at 6'-6", 240 lbs, 4.46 forty time, he could become the monster of the midway we've always, always wanted. If we take Zack at 2, then why not trade our 23 and Sam for Pitts? We'd need to use our 2nd round on a RT or Guard, but whatever.

If Pitts is there you bump that 3rd round pick to our 2nd round pick. He’ll, give’em the 3rd as well.
