They can keep both this year unless a team offers the Jets a draft pick higher than 3rd round. They can let Sam go and get a 3rd compensatory pick next year. If one QB is injured at any time we have a backup ready. Nice problem to have but I think both QB can be good under this offense we are going to.

The Dark Knight and Falco21 were two of Sam's staunchest supporters. They finally saw the light this past season. That should say something to you who still staunchly believe in Sam. I think Turk Jet has it right when he said,

You holdouts are tantalized by the few great plays Sam made. You like Sam (we all do), feel he had a raw deal here, was screwed by the Jets, and they owe him something. Some of you fear missing on the next QB, so you want to give Sam one more chance. I understand all of it. IMO if you truly like Sam and want him to succeed, then you should want the Jets to trade him. That is his best chance to succeed. We have no idea how Saleh and LaFleur will handle players. They may be great, good, mediocre, or possibly even lousy. Sam deserves a proven OC and HC who know how to develop young QBs and who will truly support Sam and give him every opportunity to succeed. It's unfortunate, but Sam has used up his chances here (three strikes and you're out). It's just not feasible from a financial perspective or from a team perspective since it takes time for a QB to develop timing and chemistry with his OL and WRs, we have several new WRs, we don't want to delay the rebuild and becoming competitive, we're starting over with a new regime, new system, etc., we're in perfect position to draft a potential FQB, and so the time is right to add the rookie QB and to make a change.

It isn't the time to roll with Sam. If the contract wasn't an issue, if Sam had shown more or at least fixed his footwork, then it might have been doable to keep him and try to develop him, but neither of those things happened.

    It's time to move on.

That is a very valid point. I don't know the answer. For one we actually have a QB coach now, which Gase I don't believe did before. It looks like Wilson's and Fields's QB coach now has multiple pupils, same guy. Could one QB and one OC coach effectively work with 3 young guys? If anyone has experience with that I would definitely like to know the answer.

The Jets aren't getting a compensatory pick for Sam after all the FAs they signed this year. You can forget about that.

EDIT: I misspoke, and I knew better. This year's signings have nothing to do with Sam. What I meant to say was that I believe that Darnold will either be traded soon or we will sign more FAs next year as the roster still won't be complete, and therefore we won't qualify for a compensatory pick for Darnold.

Be respectful. I just have a different opinion than you. And I think the Jets do as well.

Atlanta has bigger needs then a TE/WR. If anything they might surprise people by taking an edge rusher or DB at 4.

Never mind that both of you are irrational and your attempt at logic is an epic fail. The "Jets" don't draft players. The GM drafts the players, and JD is not Mac, Idzik, Bradway, or Tanny.

We practically threw a party for Mac after he drafted Sam.

The point was the higher we drafted a QB the worse the results were. Obviously more things factor into this then draft position. But reaching for a QB at #2 is not some guarantee they will be better then a guy taken at 12. It just means the risk is way bigger.

That's true but Pitts seems to be unicorn like Calvin Johnson. If Atlanta trades out before the draft the Jets can go to #5 with Cinci. But no lower because Philly will take him.
