Explain why questioning the competition he faced is grasping at straws and not a harbinger of how he will fare against faster, stronger and smarter defenses. You're not really claiming that all defenses are equal, are you?

BYU only put seventeen points on the board against the almighty Chanticleers - why should that fact be swept under the rug? 240 yards and 63% and matching TDs and INTs one for one might be barely acceptable against a Big Ten team, but Coastal Carolina? Seven other cupcake teams outscored Wilson and BYU against CC - You're not concerned about this at all?

I’m saying at any level if a guy is covered and you can fit into a tight window it’s a tight window. I just can’t roll out Sam unless we draft Wilson and they compete with each other

But the concern is that he hasn't seen a tight window playing Troy of Alabama or the Texas State Bobcats. He may have seen it if he had been playing Wisconsin or Clemson and he will see it playing the Bills and the Saints. In December Coastal Carolina played three games; they gave up 38 to Troy, 37 to Liberty and only 17 to BYU. Was it the running backs that made the difference?

Maybe the fact that BYU only learned about the game 2 days before and had to fly cross country to play it in CC's stadium.

This may be true, I'm sure It did have an impact, but, with the talent on offense that BYU had. Especially In comparison to the talent on defense that CC had. It shouldn't have been close, It shouldn't have been a loss either. CC played way above their talent level last year, credit to solid effort and coaching. Again though. It should concern people. IMO

It certainly plays a factor for me. Especially when I look at that game, then I watch his 2019 tape against better competition. It's not pretty.

CC was ranked in the Top 20 (18?) at game time and BYU was I think #12, so the talent level wasn't such a big difference. Those two factors - 2 days to prepare and flying cross country were significant, as well as it being a home game for CC. Even so, while Wilson did struggle a bit, he kept them in it and nearly pulled it out. No matter who you're playing to bring your team from your own 5 with 34 seconds left and make the potential winning pass to the 1 yard line on a blanketed receiver is impressive. If you don't think so, we're too far apart to agree.

the interesting thing about that game - Wilson threw a 80-90 yard td to start the game that got called back on a unrelated block, the int itself was a hail mary throw on the last play of the half and on the final drive his WR fell 6” short of a game winning catch... he really played well enough to have had 300+ yard - 3 td’s - no int’s and BYU should have won... but sometimes things don’t go your way...

That game was BS.. BYU took that game on the road on 2 days notice.. of course it’s going to be ugly and he came within a yard of winning that one too..

    Bottom line
    Wilson > Darnold

Maybe so; would you say the same thing if they flew across the country to play the Lions of Nassau Community? Where does the level of competition become a factor, or a nonfactor?

Certainly level of competition comes into it. What's your point? The fact is that CC was ranked in the Top 20 and it was a home game for them. Yes, they only had 2 days to prepare also, but they didn't have to waste any of that time traveling, didn't have jet lag, had their own refs - and there were some questionable calls.

Why people keep bringing Coastal Carolina with Wilson... they lost, great. What he did wrong?

Yes, they lost, after their first TD was called back by a holding penalty, there was no PI called on the Hail Mary interception even though the receiver was being pulled backwards into the EZ, even though Wilson drove them 94 1/2 yards with less than 35 seconds left. And Wilson was 19-30 for 240 yards, certainly not spectacular, especially by his norm, but not "bad" either.

Using CC as some sort of knock on Wilson only shows how uninformed people only look at the surface, or just listen to the "experts" without doing their own research. so I disregard their opinion.

The point is that Coastal Carolina was the best team BYU faced all year and they did so in mediocrity. The rest of the cupcakes they played don't do much to show Wilson facing any kind of defense compared to what the other five top prospects faced.

Who are the other 5 prospects?

Go look at Justin Fields stats/tapes vs Northwestern or Indiana. He struggled big time and Ohio State were fortunate with their wins meanwhile Zach Wilson was great versus Coastal Carolina but lost.

Why people keep bringing winning/loss again?

Are you paying attention at all? Yes, Fields played against Northwestern and Indiana while Wilson was playing against North Alabama and University of Texas - San Antonio.

Now tell us which guy is going to see competition farther above the level they are used to when they get to the NFL.

I'm sure that you can figure out who the other five top prospects are without my help and you can see what defenses they faced.

And Ohio State have been dominating the Big 10 for like centuries. It means shit. If it was the case all productive top QB for the top division would all be hall of famer.

As for the top 5 QB, I am not sure... Lawrence, Fields, Jones, ?, ?

Never heard of Lance or Trask? It doesn't really matter though; the point is that every single one of them played against higher quality teams than Wilson did. Forget about who dominated who for years, we're talking about these guys and who they faced as individuals. How many NFL corners do you think ever came out of Louisiana Tech?

Lance did not even play last year and his team are lower level too.

Have you ever heard of Josh Allen? How many NFL cb's has he faced in his collegial career?
How about Romo, McNair, Warner, Wentz? All from small school with low level of competition.

How many great QBs have come from Ohio State exactly? They face so many NFL CB's they must produce so many great QBs right?
