I've always thought a neutral venue game for each team, not all necessarily overseas, was the ultimate end game for the London franchise talk, rather than an overseas franchise.
Unless they reverse the home/away cycle in year 5, Jets would host the NFC East, away NFC west, home NFC south and away NFC north every four years.
With all the extra international travel plus one more game, they need to expand the roster, practice squad and may be two buy weeks, and only two pre season games. Fuck it.
As it is now 14 teams make the playoffs and all of them play 17 games. The teams who make the playoffs and their fans are not complaining that they have to play a 17th game. Those that win playoffs games up to the super bowl play as many as 20 games like Tampa Bay did this year. The Giants made the playoffs as a wild card and won two super bowls against the Patriots who played a least one less game than the Giants just like KC did this year with Tampa Bay. The Jets played in four championships games which we all wished that they had won and no Jet fans would have complained if they played one more game in those years. So are we complaining that the teams who don't make the playoffs have to play one more game?
Not really - it doesn't matter if the Jets play Tennessee, for instance, in New Jersey, Hamburg. London, Toronto, Mexico City or Nashville. All games will still be home and away; eight of one, nine of the other.
I'm delighted the Superbowl has been moved back a week. It means I can stay up every year now as that was a little difficult when I had work the next day. Couldn't take the day off as a teacher.
I bet thats the opener. Eagles @ Jets. NFL would be making sure one of us starts 1-0 at least. Any other schedule and that's unlikely.
straw man argument. In my post I never said that anyone ever "argued that the owners were not greedy." I clearly stated that plenty of people choose to focus on the players greed while "conveniently overlooking" the owners greed. and if you are going to tell me that you have never seen or heard anyone do that at any point over your lifetime as an NFL fan, well then either you are lying or you never interact with other people, or the media, on any level.
The NFLPA is actually trying to get the owners to adopt last years preseason schedule going forward. No OTAs, No mini camp, all meetings via zoom , The CBA caps the season at 17 games. Wont be an 18th game for at least a decade
If they do that, they're stupid and cutting their own throats. The NFL will be unwatchable within a few years, and many of those players will stay injured. Mini-camp, OTAs and preseason helps get them into football shape, and gets their backup/depth experience and playing time. Are you certain about the CBA cap? I heard on I think Dan Patrick yesterday morning that the NFL will probably seek to expand to 18 games next season or within a couple of years. That is their goal, and they want to expand to 36 teams. The 17 games was just a compromise to try to start moving the needle towards 18 games.
I'm positive about the cap on games. 17 is the max allowed under the new CBA. it would be 2031 before the league could possibly add an 18th game. Unless the players vote to amend the CBA and renegotiate, but given how narrow the vote to pass the current CBA, its unlikely
