That's preposterous. The reason we like him so much is that so many actual scouts and QB coaches with experience playing in the league have raved about him. To act like Wilson is a Jets fan creation is so off-base. Almost as off-base as claiming Smith is Jerry Rice and Randy Moss combined.

Sure, the team announces but usually stuff like that leaks before hand. The Jets beat has been absolutely clueless since Douglas got here. No leaks about the coaching search, no leaks about FA, not much on Sam or the draft.

Douglas is definitely a straight shooter and he definitely can't be bothered to try to manipulate the media. I personally just think he's pretty tight lipped.

Justin Fields cannot read a defense to save his life. His only great attribute is his long ball, arm strength and even then it takes ages to release the ball. The problem is that the NFL is not college and the Jets are certainly not the powerhouse that is Ohio State. You have to throw short passes to open the field for deep passes. Wilson can do it, Fields struggle with it.

The only way we could justify selecting Fields is if we are willing to sit him down a year or two and fix him be hopeful that he learn the QB position.

Smith is Jerry Rice and Randy Moss...on film. But who knows - maybe these films are all a deep fake videos from the Bama booster club and it never really happened?

Unlike Zack Wilson, Smith walked the walk against the best defenses on college football. And he has the records, championships, and Heisman to back him up.

He's not though man. Smith is a great prospect, I mean really great. Moss was generational though. Moss was 6'4 210 and ran a low 4.3 with a 45 inch vertical. Smith is Marvin Harrison. Extremely productive but not a complete game changer and not uncoverable due to rare physical traits.

I mean Moss and Rice are arguably the two best receivers ever. You don't think it's a bit hyperbolic to be claiming Smith is a combination of both of them?

Devonta Smith is skinny and might get pushed around by NFL corners. He also came out of nowhere this season. He might not even be better than his own teammate, Waddle.

Moss everyone knew he was a rare talent for years before he entered the draft, the only question was his off the field stuff. And Jerry Rice played at Mississippi Valley State in the 1980s!!! The chances of "ouchy" or any of us seeing his college tape on film before he entered the draft is very unlikely.

He didn't come out of nowhere this season? He was front page news for his championship winning catch as a freshman. He had over 1200 yards the year before his Heisman season, in the shadow of Juedy.

So based on all the incorrect information Douglas puts out into the NFL stratosphere I imagine this means we're looking to trade down and trying to extort a higher value for the pick. Bravo.

Does Smith, like Harrison, also kill people off the field though?

I like Smith and it's not his overall size that worries me but moreso how skinny his limbs are. I don't think I've ever seen a CFB player with as skinny legs as him dominate like he did.

Chase is built a lot better for an NFL beating at +30 pounds and will be able to bully NFL defensive backs a bit better to high point balls.

I won't make it my own but someone on NFL Network compared him to a (probably faster) version of Steve Smith and I think it's a good comparison.

I love Smith as a person though. Humble as they come. The kid just wants to play ball and succeed.

There's nothing any of the media types could say right now that would convince me the Jets are doing any particular thing.

One of the other Raven-Ozzie Newsome traits that JD undoubtedly inherited is that nobody knows WTF the Ravens are doing until they do it. Now if JD can just marry that up with the kind of talent evaluation he is reputed for we might finally get off the tricycle we've been riding in the Grand Prix for the last decade+.

Are you saying Chase's comp is Steve Smith or Devonta Smith's comp is Steve Smith?

Alabama has a very good track record of putting great receivers in the NFL...they’ve been doing that for years..I think both Waddle and Smith will do great in the NFL...

I am SUPER concerned about an Ohio State QB....that school has been a CFB powerhouse for years and years and has NEVER developed a great NFL QB. Never. I am not willing to bank the second overall pick on Fields being the first.

Wilson did great against low level competition....no idea how many NFL quality defenders he faced this year but probably not many. He also has injury history. So he’s a risk.

if I had to choose I’d probably pick Wilson but that is admittedly not a super informed opinion.

Chase. And it's not my comparison but I liked it because he's a bully at the high point of the ball like Smith was.

Hadn't heard that before but I like that comp. Probably the best one I've heard for Chase. S. Smith had 1 in a million tenacity though.

Of course we're staying at #2. Gives us the best chance to draft the QB JD wants. No need to mess around with additional picks that may or may not work out. We have enough picks. I would trade all of our high picks to keep moving up in the draft. Plus we have 2 first round picks next season. We have so much flexibility, but this is the draft where we need to secure our new QB.

Now we need a LB, some CBs & OG.

He's pretty much telegraphed every move so far. The ones who don't know what's going on are the media since they have their own agenda for flashy signings.

#1-Darnold in his JDs mind was on thin ice after last season. The year started bad and was bad throughout.
#2-Once JD realized there are other possible franchise QBs in this draft, it sealed Darnold's fate. You don't attend Lances pro day if you have a young QB you believe in. Red flag.
#3-He has worked free agency for long-term success, making sure he isn't getting players that hamstring the cap for the longterm. He has faith in his team-building and drafting skills.
#4-He is giving Lafleur and Saleh the types of players that fit their schemes. Players with plenty of upside and can still be better with good coaching
#5-Everything I've said has been a repeat pattern by JD. Expect everything that follows to play out exactly the same this offseason.

There will be no surprises unless he decides to move up from #23.

This report is likely true, but it is also a good way to drive up Wilson's value so someone might bowl you over with a mega-offer.

Jusczyk. already signed back with San Fran. Jets have no QB might as well get the 2nd or 3rd best one in the draft
