I'll grant you that JuJu is probably more talented and perhaps has more upside (since he's younger), but I still wouldn't touch him with a 10-ft pole. He says and does stupid things all the time. We don't need players like that here on the Jets. I don't care how talented he is. He would not fit in with the character and identity that JD and Saley are seeking to instill/build.
I never said I was DONE with the team over FA. I said I was done if they don't draft a QB and plan to roll with Sam. Try to keep up.
If you're going to spend in free agency, spend money on young talent that still has many years to flourish. Three guys signed, each 26 years old on opening day. Smart, calculated, and with intent. Don't overpay for overaged talent
I disagree. Crowder is a much better fit with the character and attitude that they're seeking to build/instill. JuJu doesn't fit at all with that.
I have stepped away from the ledge and am now quite happy with how this day has progressed. Lawson and Davis are both great signings and I LOVE that all the guys we've signed are young. Now we should address CB or G and then either a G or dual threat RB with our late first/early second round picks in the draft. Voila, decently talented roster (assuming we also take a QB at #2). Then we shore up any weak spots with our premium picks in the following draft. We may be in business before long here fellas.
The 26 year olds are worth one contract. If the Jets aren't good by the end of that contract we're starting over again anyway.
Teams build their fan base over time. Anybody who needs smart effective team management left long ago.
Top 10 players in QB hits last year: 1. TJ Watt 2. Carl Lawson 3. Leonard Williams (hidden production!) 4. Aaron Donald 5. Chris Jones 6. Joey Bosa 7. Deforest Buckner 8. Stephon Tuitt 9. Trey Hendrickson 10. Zadarius Smith
I disagree. There are at least 3 guys in the draft who does what Samuel does and could very well be better than him: Kadarius Toney, Jadavian Hawkins and Demetric Felton.
People react to moves as they happen. JD didn't give us much reason to approve of his job earlier, he's done a lot of good since then and opinions have changed as a result. That's not contradiction. We still need help at IOL but I give him a lot of credit for the Lawson and Davis deals.
Javian Hawkins is a small fast undersized runningback who I imagine you've never seen play. They are in no way shape or form similar.
I know totally well what Hawkins is. As usual, you can't read worth a shit. I didn't say that they were similar. I said that there were guys who can do what he does/fill the same kind of gadget role and may be better.
Yeah, so is Demetric Felton. Both burner backs who would be great fits for our offense and bear pretty much zero resemblance to Curtis Samuel. That's some serious research.
Hawkins ran three plays in college. Zone right. Zone left. And probably about 2% of his touches on screens. Samuel was a jet sweeps specialist in college and line up as slot back a ton which is generally a wide receiver position. He also jumped back sporadically when they spelled Zeke the first two years (rarely) in the backfield and a bit more when Mike Weber was there. They also ran a lot of behind the shotgun motion where he became the pitch man on a QB option. If they can do the same thing, how would they not be similar players? Hawkins will not line up primarily in the slot for her sweeps like Samuel can and has done his entire football career.
