Or maybe he's getting input from his new offensive coaching staff who liked what they saw and thinks he can work in their scheme. Just as the reporters are reporting

About our Oline....I don't think it's as shit as it's been in recent years past.

I don't have any stats, but I got the feeling our line started out shit but got better as the year went on. About mid-way through the season our line started looking legit. I think our LG got injured and JD signed a new guy with only a few games left, but he worked out really good and Becton and Conor McGovern started playing really well.

Maybe all we need to be respectable for 2021 is a RG? This isn't the finished product, but could be good enough for 2021 maybe?

It's amazing because maybe, just maybe, JD is making decisions based on dollars and what his new offensive coaching staff is telling him.

Maybe it's not about the big name but rather someone who fits the scheme this offense is due to impliment. Everyone seemed to love the hire of the head coach and offensive coordinator. Let them and their GM work their plan.

I think Douglas strategy is to wait for the players who are left when teams no longer have cap to dole out and offer these desperate players 1 year prove it deals.

Just wondering if you can tease any Watson to the Jets reality out of how JD is approaching FA.

To me, if JD thought he was trading for Watson he'd be far more aggressive in FA. First, signing Watson makes us a contender versus a bad team building through the draft. JD wouldn't waste 2-3 years of Watson while he patiently built his team from rookies. After all, JD would have traded a lot of his draft cap just to get Waston.

It seems to me if Watson was in our cards, JD would be forced to get aggressive in FA to build a win-now team as quickly as he could.

What do you think? Anything to see here?

I agree. None of the guys who I really wanted are signed yet.

    WR - Curtis Samuel
    DE - Carl Lawson/Clowney
    G - Trai Turner

    Those are my top guys

As of the writing of this post the Jets have completely whiffed. Again.

If the new coaching staff is telling Douglas that they can get something out of what we already have, then I'm willing to see where that takes us in the coming season. We really don't have much idea as to what some of these guys can do because they've been, for the past two seasons, coached by perhaps the worst coaching staff ever assembled at the NFL level, whose offensive playcalling and scheming was so basic that it would have been too simple to get by in a high school JV game, let alone the NFL.

That is the plain truth. The Jets brass were never interested in a Center. That was just a little wishing dream of some fans and wanna be analysts. Equally important, the Jets put forward a significant bid for Thuney but were outbid by a SB contender with the best QB in the league. What should JD have done? move up to the 90M+ range or more for a guard. Really now? He actually did well in jacking the price up as far as he did.
We are not going to overbid for talent. That is just the way good teams and GM do it. Win some loss some.

I think Clowney is about to excel in the second half of his career. I'm not saying break the bank for him, but he can be an important piece on this defense. He fits what Saleh wants to do.

We won 3 games last year, we have sucked 9 out of the last 10 yrs.

The top day 1 guys are going to get paid anywhere they go, if one of the teams is a playoff contender at minimum.. unless we overpay by a large amount, they aren't coming here.

Not even inquiring about an all pro center in favor of a guy who played very poorly for 75% of the season last year just seems dumb. Especially when you have as much cap space as us.

What if we land Williams, Hendrickson, and Samuel?
