If I had to take a guess, it is to get out in front of all the other teams and to show potential players that the Jets organization is making a serious commitment to running the franchise the right way. This is a place where you want to come to be a part of something special. Free agents will be watching this and I think they want to make a good impression.
Usually they meet with the local media at the combine. Since it's not happening this year it's a chance to get some headlines in the off-season I guess. They can't talk to players yet but agents are just as good. They will be turned in.

Me too now that the presser is over. That coupled with the notion of "we won't struggle to attract FAs without a starting QB" should alarm us all.
