Can you imagine the team we could build with that? A top qb wr and rb, a cb? To me thats a no brainer. There obviously no way Sam plays that good you pay him to stay so take it.

Its only a matter of time at this point.

Probably cuz his ceiling is lower. That doesnt mean hes shit, but you dont expect him to be able to reach the heights of some of the others.

I like him, but the likelihood hood of him being Brady or even Fitzpatrick is low. Could be Dilfer, again mot saying hes bad. Just saying his ceiling is lower.

I kinda figured they would be. More than the Bears or anyone else. My guess is they get Alex Smith to mentor him.

This would be an absolute steal for the Jets if JD can swing it. We could potentially get a QB, OL and RB/WR/CB all in the first round. Sign me up.

Who is this guy? Sounds like he is just taking the information that we already know and is making an educated guess. I agree with him, but I think his "source" is the internet.

Colts I thought did all right here. They are giving up a 3d this year and 2nd next year for a QB on essentially a one year contract. It is a 25 mil contract, then Colts have option for three more years at 22, 25, 26. Wentz didn't have a great year last year, but before that in 2017 had MVP type year and helped win SB, followed by two more good years. He is worth a shot without giving up a first rounder. Now, if he does play like FQB AND stays healthy, they will need to give up 1st rounder next year, which they would be happy to do. Otherwise they give up 2nd and 3d. That is worth a gamble to me on a someone who had 3 really good seasons just recently and it still 28.

To me this tells that Sam is probably worth less that 2nd and a 3d, because he does not have a cheap option for next year. He has to play like FQB next year, so that he gets franchise tagged, or he can just be gone as a FA. It's really not unlike Wentz's contract situation, since he is essentially getting paid like he is under franchise tag already, but the biggest difference is that he already played like a star last 3 out of four years. Sam hasn't and carries a lot more risk for the team as a starter than Carson does. Of course his salary is a lot less for next year, and he is young, which works in his favor, but overall I feel it comes down to whether you feel a guy will be your FQB, and risk is higher with Sam over Wentz, who already played like FQB 3 of 4 last years. So, based on that I would say maybe Sam's comparable value can go for 2nd or a 3d, but not both, like Wentz.

If that's a serious offer, Douglas should have already taken it!

Yeah, agreed. I guess that would be the eventual trade. First Washington would have to explore all of their QB options, then get to the draft and see what it would cost to move up to #3 or #4 or wherever they would need to so they can draft Fields, Wilson or Lance. If that is too costly, which I think it will be, trading #19 for Sam would be wise.

Thank you, that is some really good insight. What's interesting is that he touched upon a few things just discussed with Kurt and Vilma. He brings a very reasonable perspective. For one, he touches upon a point Vilma brought up about following of BYU, which is not unlike P5 schools, but he did explicitly mention that the recruitment last few years was not like P5 and talent around Zach was not P5 talent. He also brought up a point about weaker schedule, and pointed out that normally schedule is stronger, so that played some role. However, he did say that wasn't the only thing: a lot of it was injury before, which Zach struggled for two years, and also familiarity with the offense, and having injury free year finally. Mentioned the concern Kurt brought up about playing one year at this level, though also brought up the fact he had a good freshman season, finishing up with a perfect Bowl game.

Brought up a few other interesting point, like character concerns, "spoiled rich kid", captainships is basically BS. Did say family is wealthy, but you wouldn't know it by looking at Zach, who drives old Mazda and doesn't act like a rich kid. On captain, said this was laughable, since mostly they vote for folks from mission, which Zach didn't do and ultimately they actually picked Zach to be captain after the season started. Mentioned Zach is very athletic, could easily dunk the ball since HS, when he was 5-10 playing basketball.

Overall, dismissed character concerns, brought up easier schedule and risk of one great year, but mentioned good freshman season, great athleticism and hardest working kid he ever saw go through the program, and ultimately his elevated game being injury free as the reason for turning BYU program around.

Yeah that we ain't getting a first for Sam unless we find a really dumb team.

I assumed that from the beginning. I thought anyone who believed we could get a first for Sam was high on life, but you're right this does take a team off the market and thus lowers his value.
