Hasn’t he been hurt though lately? I think he’s missed more games than he’s played in the last few years? he’s not a fit for us at all
I don't recall the INT.....but I remember one game against Sanchez (possibly same game you're talking about) where he had at least 4 balls (maybe 5 or 6) batted down at the line of scrimmage. Watt would then do the " Dekembe Mutombo finger wag" I certainly hated him/his dominance that day.
He had a run of 3 of the most dominant years by a defensive player that I have ever seen. He was robbed of MVP (I forget which year). When healthy, he was amazing. Sadly, that time has mostly passed. I'd imagine he'll sign a deal to try to win a SB, but he would be a great leader in our lockeroom which is sure to get younger.
The Jets could sign Watt to a $20M per year contract after trading for Watson and pay for both of their contracts with Jets merchandise sold in the Houston area. This won't happen, but it's true.
This has been a given for a month now. The media has completely missed the cap crunch story. In years past it would have been a huge deal but instead the media has focused on things like the Deshaun Watson saga. It's a shame to see 90% of a profession miss out on the biggest story to come along in at least a decade.
Most Jet fans would love a Watson/JJ package to the Jets within reason. Jets gear sale increases alone would pay for half their contracts.
Watt is on the wrong side of 30 for his position and has had a ton of injuries. Wouldn't be a fan of acquiring him. We're also pretty set at DL.
I think the Jets would be better off spending their cap space somewhere else, but I think there's a great chance Watt will be a good signing wherever he ends up.
That's why I think Joe is staying pat until march 13th. Let's see how the peices fall when we don't have to make a move. Watson wouldn't be dealt without a phone call to us first either. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Come on guys.....he's not leaving a 4 win team to come to a 2 win team. He'll have much better options.
He'll have much better options, but the Texans won't. And they could tell him that if he wants to get traded, it'll be to the Jets. (Though that then leads to the question of whether we want to trade for Watson if he doesn't want to be here.)
My wish is that JJ Watt, from Waukesha, Wisconsin, goes to the Packers, but there would have to be cap moves to make it possible. Unfortunately, Buffalo is probably the best fit overall, and as long as he stayed healthy he would help them.
Watt may just retire. He has been really beat up the last few years and somewhere in the back of his mind he has to be thinking about how much more damage he wants to do to his body before the last 40+ years of his life. He's got plenty of money.
