With his banged up OL Mahomes look like a average QB if the Jets drafted him they be trading him instead of Darnold. All this stupid talk about trading everything is just silly talk proves this is a team game your QB is only as good as his weapons and the line that blocks for him.
If JD does unthinkable toss away all the draft picks this is what Watson will look like with the same people who wanted Watson demanding and flying a fire JD sign over the stadium. Keep Darnold or draft a QB build a actual team around him let the Diva stay in Texas.

Makes you think about the impact that Sewell at 2 could have on this team.

Yes I do Mahomes was getting hit rushed knocked down exactly what he would look like behind the Jets OL and without weapons maybe even worse Watson is fixing this team this team is more then a QB away in all fairness to Darnold if he was on a healthy KC he at least make the playoffs. To say it's the QB why this team suck so bad it's obvious this is a team sport.

You do realize TB scored 31 points, right? KC's defense got it's ass kicked. Reid and staff got outcoached. People trying blame the loss in the two missing tackles are discounting how well TB played. And to use it as an excuse to keep Sam?? Pluh-eeze.

Patrick Mahomes easily broke a record tonight for most total steps taken per drop-back. If he wasn't scrambling or rolling out, he was dropping back 20+ yards serpentine style on almost every snap. Crazy.

Same thing Darnold has been doing for the last few years, he should be thankful it was just one game.

He was scheduled to have surgery on his foot after the game.

Scrambling was not in the game plan and kudos to TB for forcing their hand.

yup...number one reason was the pressure that the Bucs DL put on Mahomes. He was not comfortable all day....man he made some insane throws falling to the ground, and his receivers dropped a bunch of balls that should have been caught, but how can you watch that game and not think that was the main reason Bucs won?

yes Brady played efficient...their running game pounded when they needed to, but Mahomes has never been held down like that. No TDs. Crazy stuff.

No bones about it....the Tampa D won that game.

31 points is whatever for KC as they can usually score even more than that if they need to

The Chiefs getting held for under 10 points has to be the main reason why they lost.

You still need a good QB regardless so a reason for keeping Sam is questionable but I think people are saying that we need to build an oline and overall team. Trading a bunch of resources for Watson makes it tougher to do that but not impossible IMO

Mahomes is an elite qb that has brought his team to the last 2 Super Bowls and a conference championship the year before. The Jets could sign Watson, Thuney, and Robinson and field the best offense we’ve had since ‘98.

Make no mistake. The offensive line and tackles specifically for the Chiefs were atrocious tonight. But the game plan did them absolutely no favors. They did not run the ball in the first half. They ran one end around, zero jet sweeps, zero screens and zero draws while their tackles were clearly overmatched by the Buccaneers edge rushers. The only checkdown options they realistically tried were throwing the ball to Kelce over the middle who was routinely bracketed by a linebacker and a safety.

I have no idea what Andy Reid was thinking. He thought he'd eliminate his own running game, drop Mahomes back 50 times to attempt to throw the ball 30 yards down the field with two backup tackles and find success against a good pass rush?

He watched too much game tape of their early matchup with the Bucs and tried to emulate it while the teams were clearly different in the second matchup.

With that being said - the Chiefs were realistically down to their third and fourth option at both spots when you consider shuffling. And the gameplan was just terrible and the second half adjustments were basically non existent.

Trying to draw conclusions about Darnold and the Jets based on one bad game by the best quarterback and coach in the game is a pretty bad idea. There are so many variables in terms of roster construction and analyzing how this coaching staff will use this personnel. It makes any conclusion that you're trying to draw a bit silly.

Bottom line is that you need a good offensive line in the NFL. Everyone knows that except the previous two Jets regimes.

Not gonna lie, I was seeing shades of the Jets in KC tonight. Maholmes was on the run almost every play. I wouldn’t compare him to Darnold though because he still made spectacular throws. It does put “We could’ve had Maholmes!” to bed, because how he looked tonight is pretty much how he would’ve looked with us.

We still need a QB, but our oline can’t be neglected.

Bowles did a HELL of a job with that defensive game plan today. That D was LIGHTS OUT. Unbelievable that they kept Mahomes and the Chiefs out of the endzone all game long. They held Mahomes and Hill and Kelce et. al. to 3 freakin' FGs in the Super Bowl??? wow...just wow. I always liked his chops as a DC. On a side note, Mahomes and the Chiefs would be 0-2 for Super Bowls if not for a classic choke job from the Niners and Kyle Shanahan last year. They played like crap for 3 quarters of that game and today they played like crap for all 4 quarters, so for all of their unstoppable offensive acumen, in two Super Bowls against two good NFC defenses, they have looked pretty human 7 out of 8 quarters. Just food for thought.

KC offense was totally out matched, and KC defense was a no show, plus they were on the field for ever.,Mahomes couldn’t find any rythm what’s so ever nor time to throw the ball at all. The OL was the Achilles heal for him and they got thrown around like rag dolls. Yes Tampa D played lights out but aided by a weak OL rendering Mahomes innefective. So much for the defense does not win championships theory. TB showed how to play flawlessly on both sides of the ball.
Having said all that, the point the OP made about the importance of the offensive line is spot on. Without a top notch one, no QB can be successful, not even Mahomes, or Brady, who had all day on this game.

It certainly didn’t help. Maybe they were discombobulated by the off field nonsense with Reid’s son, but when you have that good an offense being shut down yeah I think losing your two best o-linemen is a factor
