If not Wilson I would take Sewell but I wouldn't be crazy about it. If its Sewell then we talk Mac Jones at 23. I would rather have a road grader guard. 1b Take Smith the WR at 2 and at 23 a RB or OLB.
I think it's being looked at the wrong way in some respects. If we swap it round....who doesn't need a QB/replace an old QB. Bills Chiefs Ravens Seattle Arizona Green bay Bengals Chargers Then there's the below teams that will be content Browns Titans Dallas if the sign Dak Everyone else is either actively looking or would upgrade/invest if the opportunity arises, and a lower cap this year has brought a lot of questions to teams willing to give others chances. Going to be a mad cycle building up to the draft. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
40 odd year old TB. They'll ride 1 more year. Go all in and then see what's what. The ultimate win now team, it's working for them ATM. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Jared Goff just got sent off to NFL purgatory aka Detroit. That's what happens when you underachieve on a fairly stacked team with a rising star coach.
Lions also get two first round picks. Price for Watson is going to be insane. Sent from my SM-G981V using Tapatalk
#2 is too high to pick a right tackle, which is where Sewell would end up playing because of Becton. If we went O-line for the first pick, it would be better to trade down and grab someone else.
Not true. Sewell would be the LT and Becton would be the RT. With that reality, do you think #11 was to high for a All Pro RT, I believe Becton becomes a dominate RT. think about the cowboys teams in the 90’s- great lines for Aikman and Emmitt Erik Williams, Larry Allen, Flozel Adams were all Tackles very interchangeable lines. Gave them so much stability for 15 or so years...Swell @2 would be a great, not splashy, long term investment. society today likes the splashy...
They only got a third round pick this year. We can send three future first rounders to Houston for all I care but that #2 pick is worth more.
That would depend on if they use him that way. #11 is not too high for a good right tackle at all. The question is whether or not Becton would be best used at RT. If the only reason he would get moved there is because we can't justify a #2 pick for RT, then there's no point in picking Sewell and we should either grab a QB, Smith, or trade down. But if Becton would be good on the right, then yeah, Sewell might not be a bad pick.
Perhaps Detroit would be willing to send us some picks to swap Goff for Darnold if we were willing to use some of our cap space to absorb that contract. We would be on the hook for $27,825,000 next year. The following year we either keep him at $25,500,000 or cut him loose with a $15,500,000 cap hit. He wouldn't be a bad stop gap or backup next year. If our coaches fix him we have our starter. I think Detroit would be willing to give us something pretty good. For a rebuilding team with the most cap space in the league I think this is the play for us.
I don’t think this affects Watson price much. A big factor in the draft compensation was goffs terrible contract. Stafford agreement to move was also mutual. Watson isn’t, he’s forcing it. Different situation. net net we can’t view these two situations as the same to set a value baseline
Becton liked a tweet frome the Ravens LT that said "I am a LEFT tackle". He would be pissed if we moved him to RT and rightfully so after how he played last year.
