That's still my most painful moment as a jets fan. Not only did Vinny go down, but we lost 8 other players that opening game against the Pats... 98 was a great feeling. We had a truly elite team that was more than capable of winning the SB.
1998 was by far my favorite year. That year this Arkansas boy took a job with MetLife and was sent to NYC the same week the Jets played the Jags in the playoffs. I scalped a ticket and was at the game! The '91 season was fun for me. It was a year where I really started getting into the NFL as a whole. I remember my dad and I watching the season finale against he Dolphins. .. . good ol' Johnny Hector.
2002 for me 1998 was weird for me, it was the first year of the new (old) uniforms, so I really didn't recognize the team. Plus there were too many giants/patriots castoffs on the squad. They were more mercenaries that didn't "feel" like the jets to me. Just a collection of old players I used to hate and had a tough time warming up too...even Curtis Martin.
didnt know where you were. i never look underneath the avatars. you guys dont get the NY feeds in bucks county? i could have sworn i got the jets when i went to my girlfriends best friends wedding (got married in peddlers village). maybe not...that was like 3 or 4 years ago. too many burnt brain cells...lol
1998 - Because it was a year of utter relaxation. None of the usual Jet sturm and drang. With the Tuna aboard, and Vinny, Wayne and Keyshawn, I just relaxed every game and waited to see how they were gonna win. 1981 - Because it was the first time I'd seen them come from no where and change everybody's impression of the Jets. And they were fun to watch on both sides of the ball. You felt sometimes, more confident of a score when the defense was on the field, the SE was so dominant.
Yeesh, even Curtis? I certainly never had a problem warming up to Curtis. I see what you're syaing about the other guys though
I viewed 1998 as a blessed departure from some truly terrible Jets teams. I know exactly what you're saying about "Bill's guys" being brought in to shore up the Jets, but the guys they were replacing were a cancer on the bad teams of the previous years. For the record Hugh Douglas, who was a huge problem in the lockerroom of a bad team turned into a huge asset for the Eagles in the lockerroom of a good team and Adrian Murrell who was the best player on offense that Parcells ditched went on to have one more decent season before he vanished from the NFL.
98/02/06, 98 was a killer up by 10 third quarter DAMN john elway and terrel davis! 2002, i was happy we beat the colts haha, 06, happy were gonna beat the colts lol
1998 was my favorite year by far. After that i'd say 2002 and 1982. I have been to a million Jet games but w/o question the 2 best home games were GB and Indy in 2002 and the way we came back from the dead and got so hot the 2nd half was alot of fun.
