I am surprised he said Deshaun is slightly better than Sam, and not the other way around.

... and then three years passed and you simply changed that opinion.

Someone called it earlier in this thread that McShay was so invested in both his crowning of Darnold and denounced of Watson in each of their respective drafts, that he couldn't accurately assess either of them at this point.

David Culley could make Watson a star. He’s from the Andy Reid tree and is actually a really good hire for a QB.

So, this tells me there is something else driving this riff between Watson and the Texans that the media don’t know about. It will leek eventually! Be patient JD. Be patient. They need to make the deal by the draft. Their time is ticking and we got the money and the picks to make it happen.

    1. Watson is a star.
    2. David Culley has never been a head coach or even an OC in his 93 years in the league.
    3. He coached WRs, wasn't even a QB guy and his WR units were terrible last year.
    4. The coach was never driving the riff, it's been ownership.

Michael Smith & Michael Holley pointed out that if the Texans are smart they move quickly and get out in front of what is shaping up to be a big QB market.

Deshaun is Deshaun obviously, but still you don't want to risk narrowing the market because SF went with Stafford, for example.

Correction I should of said Super Star and to be a Super Star you need a ring with stats in my opinion. There has only been 1 super star QB without a ring and that’s Marino.

David Culley is a good coach. He’s WRs and passing coach for a lot of good teams with Andy Reid. He’s not a play caller more the CEO type. I think it’s a Savy move by the Texans and I’m surprised Watson immediately requested the trade. Something bad happened behind the scenes over there.

I wonder if last year JD dealt with Casserio and Bill in the trade they made with the Pats during the draft?

    could be some familiarity there...

The "wild card" in this is the fact that Woody's back. And even though he and CJ supposedly committed to letting Douglas run the show, "putting fannies in the seats" - or eyeballs on the screen if Covid protocols still govern next season- is one thing Woody wouldn't hesitate in overruling Joe for. Getting Watson is a "made for Woody" moment. I'm not saying I think that's a good thing - getting Watson would be good, but sticking his ignorant nose back into the business is a bad thing regardless - but I do think the odds of Watson to the Jets driven by Woody's desire to make a "triumphant return" have grown exponentially.

Two things - first, Culley seems like a great guy and might also be a great coach, but damn if there isn't a lot of blatant, superficial data pointing to him...not being "great" in the past. Most humorously, he was the WR coach on that 2014 KC team that tied the NFL record by having 0 (ZERO) receiving TDs by their WRs all year.

Second, Watson didn't immediately request the trade after Culley's hiring, he did it weeks ago when he got back from a vacation. The Texans chose to try and pretend it didn't happen in public, all the way up until Watson's team decided that enough was enough with their bullsh*t this morning. League insiders have said that in all interviews the candidates were apprised of the situation and they basically knew he had asked out.

    1 better.

he was the passing game coordinator for the leagues worse passing offense last year
he was the WRs coach for the chiefs when their WR group failed to catch 1 TD all season

His coaching history is really bad. this hire has gase written all over it
