Here's what I found on our new CS:

    https://pro-football-history.com/coach/2172/aaron-whitecotton-bio

    https://pro-football-history.com/coach/12713/nathan-ollie-bio

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricky_Manning

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_Vaughn

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayes_Pullard

Welp, on our D staff so far, only Saleh and Whitecotton have any real experience at all. That's a little scary, and it's also scary because it may be a signal that Saleh is going to be too heavily involved with the D rather than the whole team.

At least Manning, Vaughn and Pullard all played in the NFL.

ulbrich ran a 3-4 in ATL but wasn't the DC. look for us to run a hybrid niners/seahawks defense (both 4-3) according to what saleh said

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Middleton_(American_football) - Middleton played in the NFL and has a good bit of experience both as a TE Coach and Asst. STs Coach. He looks like a good hire.

    https://www.newyorkjets.com/team/coaches-roster/mack-brown

Billy Vandemerkt - was a small college QB, has coached RBs, WRs, LBs and QBs in small colleges

The staff could be a good one, but initially at least, I'm disappointed. I thought that he would have been able to put together a better staff with more experienced coaches and at least a few with names we know.

It will be interesting to see. I believe that his plan was to be involved with the whole team, and hope that he will be, but with the lack of coaching experience so far on the D side, I think he may have a hard time focusing on STs or offense, at least initially. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

I don't know how much better defense could have possibly gotten, when they finished 29th overall. And it's not like he coached for a couple of weeks, this was 11 games, 70% of the season. Granted these were not his schemes, and he could not have turned this around overnight, and we are told defense played better down the stretch once he had some time with them, but the truth is, he has been a part of pretty bad defenses in Atlanta nearly every year. He certainly doesn't have credentials of Kris Richard. A bit concerning.

Saleh and Ulbrich worked together in Seattle so I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt that they are on the same page with the scheme Saleh wants to run.

Almost like Parcells and Bellicheat when they were with Giants.

Saleh, Ulbrich and Whitecotton are literally the only D coaches so far that have any real experience at all. That's a little scary.

Parcells won the SB as a HC and GM, and Belichick was a DC on that team. Saleh was defensive quality control coach and Ulbrich was special teams assistant on that Seattle SB team. You know what, I'll take it, that's close enough.

Didn't Parcells also win a SB as HC of the Giants and Belichick as the DC? I think they also lost to the Packers in the SB while with the Patriots in the same capacities.

I thought we already hired a QB coach? The staff is concerning in its lack of experience to me.

That is really great info. I didn't realize how bad previous coordinator was. Jeff's numbers would be good for 22nd in yards and 13th in points, which while not exceptional, considering he inherited 32nd in yards and 31st in points, is actually quite significant turnaround. Maybe this Saleh guy knows what he is doing after all...

I don't know how Saleh will turn out, but I'll take him over the ankle biter in Detroit.

Evidently, Saleh hired the other guy to be QB Coach AFTER Scangarello turned him down.

you mean Knapp? I’ll take him. He worked with Ryan. They hired Calabrese, if y’all remember, Denver tried to have him QB the Saints game when their whole QB unit had to sit out due to contact tracing.

That was crazy wasn't it? I wonder how our fan base would react to Saleh saying the same things.
