yes he did, because the cowboys built a team. but he lost his o-line this year and still balled out. they also made moves to get talent around him because he was affordable. dak is considered elite by many and was franchised by dallas. they offered him 35 mil a year. that doens't happen to non elite players. only players making more would have been watson and mahomes

Regarding Tunsil, they blew their load on him. The Jets have a wealth of picks thanks largely to the Jamal Adams trade. Not quite the same thing. And this is an elite QB we're talking about.

It's not a matter of it being sexy and exciting. Elite QB's win you championships, though. You fail to realize that. Everything else is smoke and mirrors if you don't have that "QB." The Jets can get Watson AND still build around him. They have enough picks and cap space over the next couple of seasons to do so. Not sure why you're continuing to ignore/refute this.

Texans sucked this year because the rest of their roster was not good due to years of mismanagement. Without Watson, they may have legit won 0-1 games this season.

Franchised being the keyword. If they really believed in him being elite, they would have signed him long-term years ago.

elite QBs on high contracts have never won a SB. cheap good enough QBs have and elite QBs on cheaper deals (rookie contracts) have. elite QBs eating your teams cap hasn't. wilson won 1 on his rookie deal then hasn't again since being paid. ben won 2 SBs on his rookie deal and hasn't won one since being paid. flacco won 1 on his rookie deal and never did again after being paid. drew brees won one when he had a resonable contract coming off an injury, never won one again after being paid. mahomes won one on his rookie deal, we'll see if he can do it again once his cap hit kicks in which will be 2023. the only QB to win multiples was brady because he took less money

they tried but he wanted more and they had control. so they deferred paying him. it was dumb on their part but they are the same franchise who mismanaged that team for decades so not suprised

For this conversation, I won't argue Mahomes or Rodgers. You only made an argument for Dak, which is easy to shoot down. Start with the fact that Dak will be coming back from a major knee surgery. You picked an arbitrary 20 game set to compare, but if you compare their last 2 seasons, Watson's numbers are better across the board on a team with much less offensive talent and stability. Watson is also a much more dangerous threat as a runner than Dak. There is no one that believes that Dak Prescott is a better QB than Deshaun Watson. This is not arguable.

There is no argument that Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson is better than better than Deshaun Watson.

That may not be false, but despite that, an elite QB gives you a CHANCE to win year in and year out in most cases. Without that sort of QB (even with a good built out roster, top to bottom), you most likely aren't going anywhere. This is why even if you're not wrong, teams will give that elite QB a high contract (because they deserve it and also because it puts their team in actual contention with a good roster around him). Elite QB's don't grow on trees, as the Jets have seen firsthand.

    2021: 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th
    2022: 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 5th, 6th, 6th, 6th
    2023: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th

That's 26 picks over the next three years. If we give up 2021 1st, 2022 1st, 2023 1st and a 2022 2nd that's four picks. That means we still have 22 picks left over the life of that trade. So you are quite literally factually incorrect when you say "Watson will eat up most of our picks". And this doesn't even count what you get back for Sam. So:

    2021: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th
    2022: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 5th, 6th, 6th, 6th
    2023: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th

All while having a 26-year-old elite QB under contract. Who the hell wouldn't sign up for that?

That entirely depends on what we trade. I'm all for trading for Watson if we can get him at a reasonable price. I'm not for mortgaging our entire future for a guy who may or may not work out there and has already jumped ship on another team was it wasn't going well for him. Those who think Watson is a lock to bring success to the Jets and will be a great team player who is on board for staying for years are willfully ignorant of the history of the Jets and the history of the NFL. Willful denial of reality based on wishful thinking is one of the reasons our country and the Jets are such a mess.

Last year's Patriots were significantly better than last year's Buccaneers even though the Buccaneers had a significantly better roster.

Right, and last year's Pats were significantly better than this year's because the QB is the most important position in all of sports and the Jets have the chance to get an elite QB they can't pass up on.

Yes, every contender needs to coach well, draft well, and sign the right free agents. They also need elite QB play to consistently contend.

Depending upon how far you're talking about, I disagree. It's not been socially acceptable to say racist things or act in an overtly racist fashion in decades, although I'm certain it has continued in private circles. The last 4 years we've seen and heard a LOT of racist words and seen a lot of racist signs and actions, and it has been largely young people, Neo-Nazi Groups and White Supremacist groups. I don't remember any time since the '70s where I have seen the Klan and racist hate groups come out in the broad daylight and make their thoughts and hatred so well known.

Are you honestly using a single pass to say he's a better passer than Allen and Watson?
