It’d be worth it if he plays like a top 5 QB. At that point I don't really care about what the picks turn into. We’ve never had one of the best QB’s in the league in my lifetime. It would be nice to know what thats like.
Yeah, that is a good way of looking at it. I guess the value of Watson is greater than I realize, thus the Jets throwing in two or three more 1st Round picks. Tough scenario for Douglas, because this seems like an anti-Douglas move, and Saleh wash hired because he had a plan for this franchise (which definitely did not include Watson), so we will see. Plans change.
Luckily I've been pretty convinced this whole time that there's no way in hell the Texans trade Watson so if that happens, I'll be perfectly fine. What I won't be able to handle is Watson going to the Dolphins.
This is also an unprecedented situation. A top 3-5 QB in the NFL who's elite, at age 25 has never been available before.
JD must be in a pressure cooker right now. Can you imagine? I've thought pretty much its a sure thing he wasn't going to use a first on a QB this season, trade for capital, and go full on rebuild. Then a star like Watson becomes available. Talk about temptation. JD is literally at a crossroads already in his Jets tenure. Its "do I go left or go right", with two different approaches to team building. I'll trust whatever he does. But man this is big test already.
I don't think so, because this is an exciting time to be a Jets fan. Watson is a great scenario, but there are so many other ones too including Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, keeping Sam, etc. If they keep the picks, they will use them to build a contender. If they trade them, then the Jets will have one of the best QB's in the NFL. So everything is looking up right now!
What is strange about this is Watson wants out of a poorly run franchise....so his solution is the Jets? Sorry I don't know how to process that.
