And he will be very happy with our new coach. There is a part of me that thinks CJ said “ fuck this” last year because of Gase

This time of year is fun .. But this is a true "rebuild", and finally so. Stop thinking we are a "Luxury Blue Chip" player away from going all the way. We need talent across the board peroid .. As good as Saleh is as a motivational speaker .. Don't expect the impossoble .. WE NEED MORE DOGS!

we need to start hitting on more draft picks. Ashtyn Davis and Zuniga won’t cut it. Jury is still out on Mims even.

Not specific targets, but specific positions

If JD wanted my advice i would focus on WR in FA, reason being is that IMO (and not scientific analysis) this has been the toughest to gauge in drafting.

i do not believe in spending megabucks on a guard and certainly not one from the Pats. A) ex-PATS OL have not fared well elsewhere B) a lot of their success was due to Dante and an offensive scheme where Brady would release the ball extremely quickly thus hiding any deficiencies in pass protection (so their numbers can be misleading)

I would also consider FA for CB despite our recent nightmares there

i think a WR will happen. not sure which.

idk what all the fuss about Thuney is. he's good. yes.

anyway. i think we'll get a surprise guy along the lines of Fant at G this year in FA.

Is he good? I don't know. Let's ask Nate SOlder or better yet any GM who has spent big on ex-Pats OL.

the system and the (former) line coach were genius in mitigating weaknesses.

Aka they've been allowed to hold for two decades. Half kidding. However Scarnecchia coaches those guys up to lock their hands inside has worked to perfection. I'm not big on old Pats offensive lineman. The 49ers were always weakest at the guard spot and extremely strong at the tackles. You can usually afford that luxury as the zone scheme covers things up for guards more than it does for tackles. Reach blocks are usually much more difficult to accomplish in that scheme for tackles.

I think Richard Sherman is likely to come here on a one year deal . Every new coach likes to bring one of his guys to help relay the new message

Think a guy like Bryce Hall will thrive with him and Saleh as a mentor.

It will be interesting to see what they do at QB in free agency.

excellent point. Dante IIRC started as a special teams coach. not sure if that's relevant.

Suppsedly when BB was interviewing for CLevland he had a book which he discussed with FO where he explained not only his own sense of positional value but how he would fill each of those positions, e.g., drafting guards in 3-4 (i'm making that up because i don't remember the facts well). But he was definitely in the vanguard for such things as drafting not just on positional value but return on investment, e.g., RBs had such short careers are they worth the super high picks that were given in the Blair Thomas days.

who doesn't like an awesome guard (even in West Coast system). That said, given a salary cap is that where you spend your money?

i wouldn't complain if he brings in a couple of lockerroom leadersship type guys

all of our (tiny handful) of good players are young (e.g., Q, Mekhi, Maye) and could benefit from the tutelage of a winning player.

I'm never against getting a big time guard. Zach Martin and Quenton Nelson transformed their offenses. But those are man to man blocking maulers. We won't be running a lot of that. Smaller athletic guards will be the emphasis. They're a little bit easier to find and recycle.

We need the scouting department to come through though.

also each of those guys were drafted, not FAs, so they got excellent value. Query whether the teams would've enjoyed the same success paying those guys 15million/yr
