I'm pretty sure Joe Douglas was bullshitting that he liked Gase because he was afraid of getting stabbed in back walking the Jets locker room because there is no way he would have hired that clown. I like the clean slate here, even with less cap space than before this debacle, good hire
Can't be worse than Gase, can he? But then again, as we have recently seen, this is a franchise which is quite adept at reaching new lows.
Heavy motion with lots of play action, not a lot of RPO, which is something I think Fields's is going to need.
Without LaFleur I really wouldn't be happy about this hire. Him coming along makes it acceptable and probably good. When your brother is Matt LaFleur and you've worked under Kyle Shanahan you probably have a decent idea of how to run a good offense. Let's hope we can score some points. Defense is far from our primary issue.
1. I am shocked this got done so fast and smoothly. 2. I love everything I have heard about Saleh. He sounds like a real leader of men who can inspire players if not fans. 3. This was handled so much more professionally than any Jets hire I can recall. 4. I love bringing in the shanahan system. It works so well with what Douglas appears to want to build. Expect at least 1 high drafted OL and 1 FA OL. We are gonna run the ball and be a physical team. 5. I can't wait for the press conference. 6. I guarantee the press conference will be better than the one two years ago. 7. It has been a long time but I have hope as a Jet fan. 8. I don't think Sam can be fixed but the Shanny system suits him very well. He should be celebrating. 9. Everyone should be Fing celebrating.
I'm not wild about it. I like his energy and his resume, and I'm happy for the rest of those who really wanted him. For continuity sake with the QB and offense, I think it would have been better to have hired either Daboll or Smith. I'm willing to trust JD, however, and give it the benefit of the doubt and hope that it will prove to be a great hire. If not, then we'd just be starting over again in 3-4 years, so we'd all better get behind this and hope that it was the right decision. Hopefully, Mike La Fleur will be the OC and will be here for at least 3-4 years to get the rookie we draft up to speed before he starts interviewing for HC jobs.
It's going to be so nice to have a head coach with an actual pulse roaming the sidelines for a change.
It also appears the Johnsons were not very involved in this search. I think JD simply went out, got his guy, and the Johnsons rubber stamped it. So far so good....
Rally the the troops Robert! I definitely didn’t have him at the top of my list but I do feel we can change the culture and keep games a lot closer with Saleh. It’s a boom or bust pick. JD has the keys and this officially his show with Saleh. Let the Robert Douglas era begin.
