He said universal view around the league. Didn’t say anything about guys sitting at home posting on the message board. Are there any reports you can provide of sources actually in the league saying people think Darnold is done?
If JD ranks Saleh, Smith and Daboll equally, then yes, there's no reason to wait. I'd be surprised if he has them ranked equally, however. Surely one has stood out among the three or there may be something about all three that while different, stands out. If the one who stood out is Saleh or Smith, then he should go ahead and make the hire. The thing that may stand out in his mind the most is the job that Daboll did with Allen and Buffalo's offense. Plus there's probably the fact in the back of his mind that he would be killing two birds with one stone by hiring Daboll (helping us and hurting Allen and Buffalo). If that's the case, he should wait. The thing is that he doesn't want to be left out in the cold or the last one making the hire and having to accept what's left.
I disagree that the only group that seems to agree that Sam can't be an NFL QB are the "Uber emotional fans." Sorry that you chose to be disrespectful and condescending. There are plenty of logical and factual reasons to think that Sam is not going to develop into a consistent, quality starter in the NFL. Just because we don't agree with you, doesn't make us "Uber emotional."
The funny thing is that the emotional ones are actually the Darnold supporters/believers lol. Basically all the raw data on Sam says he won't be good. Believing in him isn't rooted in any kind of evidence or precedent, it's purely wishful thinking that flies in the face of 99% of the evidence.
Not sure why you took that to be condescending. An adjective is just an adjective, it only has the tone the reader assigns to it. I’m not going to apologize that you we’re offended by that because I didn’t put any distinction on the term user emotional that would be positive or negative . You decided it was a negative.
Very true. Nothing against Buffalo, but I'm rooting for them to loose the next game from the selfish reason of expediting the process for us. Also with Meyers to Jax, the process will start moving faster.
25% was the all time high water mark. the past two years there were four of 32. and it’s far worse at the executive level ... this in a league that’s over 70% poc it’ll be enough when poc assistants and execs feel like they’re getting a fair shake
Hell no we should not! I would sit right now and evaluate Smith and Saleh. Make a move and make an offer. We can't afford to wait that long just for an interview
Sounds like Pederson wanted to start Hurts going forward and the owner didn't agree with that which probably led to his eventual firing https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...t-over-carson-wentz/ar-BB1cKOuv?ocid=msedgntp
What an uber emotional response! Just kidding! Evaluating Sam Darnold can't be done in either extremes. You can't just look at his statistics or you would think he is terrible and completely move on. You can't just use your emotions, because you would see he is a great kid who seems to have a great head on his shoulders and a lot of bad luck his first few seasons in the NFL. You have to evaluate it all, including his lack of progress, his big play ability when plays break down, leadership, etc. and see if his flaws can be fixed and if he is worth investing another season in. You also have to evaluate his eventual contract extension compared to rookie deals. So it is a lot. Now @FJF said an "NFL QB" so I guess some people think Sam is just terrible and won't succeed anywhere? That is a poor evaluation. He is definitely an NFL QB. Just not sure if it will be with the Jets.
Doesn't surprise me, he didn't like Wentz. Also the owner doesn't want a expensive qb like that on the bench. Must have been at a crossroads
Also wanted to choose his own staff which Roseman didn't want. I have zero problem with him quitting over that. We always talk about how important it is to let coaches choose their own staff. Pederson had so much early success as a coach that I can see it really bothering him that he wasn't able to.
Good thing the Titans didn't care about those. And to reiterate, I think we need to move on from Sam. I'm just not going to pretend like me and a bunch of other guys on the internet know more than the people who do this for a living.
