Yeah, that is what I was afraid of. Saleh to the Chargers. If that happens, fans can't blame Joe D or Jets Brass for letting him out of the building. It is a free country and he has options, and I would say the Chargers are a better one right now. In LA, Justin Herbert at QB, pretty good roster. Lost a lot of games they could have won this year. Smart move for Saleh if that is what happens.

it’s far and away the most attractive job. I much prefer he ends up there as opposed to Detroit or Philly. I completely understand why a coach would take that job over ours... if he took either of the other two it means our situation is way worse than we think.

Who cares? How is he a better candidate than the other coordinators?

Yeah, good point. I don't think he would, but we will see.
I just mean fans shouldn't be upset if he was holding out to talk to the Chargers or any other opening that may occur.

Or he just fits better in LA, and it’s what is in the best interest of his family as well. It’s a 5hr travel time from San Francisco to LA.

Not saying it’s going to happen but the pieces to the puzzle fit much better for Saleh if he goes to Chargers and he has to uproot his family.

  7. I understand the appeal of the young QB,decent roster & great scouting dept. But Chargers might have worse ownership than the Jets

One more thing I will say with the Jets: They actually can wait for Daboll and other candidates. I get the worry of trying to build quality staffs, but if they like Daboll they can wait. If they like Saleh, but he wants to interview everywhere else, they can wait. Same with Arthur Smith, Eric Bienemy or anyone else. Doug Pederson is still out there too, so the candidates are there. The Jets are likely to end up with a high quality Head Coach.

I think this is EXACTLY what it is. Saleh has the highest credentials of all coordinators as I pointed out before. I suspect the reason why Jets held him for so long is because they made the best push they can to close the deal. Short of having Q in there paired with Becton to physically make him sign, they can't force him to take the job, when there are a couple of better places available, namely Chargers who showed the interest, and Jaguars. This is not like Rhule situation, where Matt was ready to sign, but they wouldn't allow him to choose his staff.

It's a free agency where dominoes need to fall to the top dogs, for the rest to get theirs. For top prospects like Saleh, Jaguars and Chargers need to be out of play, and if he is still on the board, I believe we can get another shot.

Why? It's the worst available opening. If nobody else gives him an offer I could see it.

Generally, the Jets are regarded as the third most attractive job behind LAC and Jax but Saleh is from Detroit and that might be his preferred destination.

have a bad feeling Saleh will end up with Chargers, Smith will end up in Atlanta and we'll panic and go with Doug as they won't want to wait for Daboll

I think they have way more than a decent roster. Allen is elite, Williams when healthy is top teir, Henry when healthy is top teir, Ekeler is one of the most versatile backs in the league. And the defends is stacked but again... when healthy. I would love to see what Saleh does with that group. Not more than I want to see him with the Jets though.

Daboll doesn't seem very media savvy either. He is a offensive guru type. Id rather we get someone who can command a room. Dont know about Daboll

Pederson should be the guy. Honestly. He checks so many boxes.

    Offensive-minded
    Creative, aggressive playcaller
    Head coaching experience+insane early success
    JD connection

    Lost locker room
    Threw a professional game
Fired despite success because the franchise said it's better off that way
Reports that he doesn't want to be told what to do

    Checks those boxes too unfortunately.

This is an interesting Tweet. Shows ya how close the 3 teams and candidates are with each other.

We're fortunate the Jags went off the board with their guy. There's a really good chance we end up with one of Saleh, Smith, or Daboll who seem to be JD's top 3.
