Pete Carroll did manage to put that handicap aside when he came to the pros for the second time. :)

Even if true, he isn't coming here for obvious reasons, lol.

    Staley is intriguing

I like Pete but he left USC because of violations in the program. Thank him for giving the Jets two firsts for Adams.

He also won several national championships (violations tainted) and a Super Bowl shortly after returning to the NFL.

That was my point about Nick Saban. His advantage in college is clearly in recruiting and in running a strong program off of the recruiting edge. However he would likely be a good HC, maybe a very good one, in his 2nd NFL go-round.

Rex Ryan bring him back along with Mike Pettine as DC. It will be like getting the band back together. The last time we had any sustained success. Boy, it's been some dark years.

Leon Hess and his I want to win right now moment. Kottite was the worst. They gave up on Carroll too soon. Typical Jets move. Don't get me started on Lou Holtz.

Last time we've been to the playoffs and we did it with Sanchez. Say what you want but Rex was the last coach to get the Jets to sniff the playoffs. I'll take more of that. What the alternative has been horrible for years.

And Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl. Rex won more than 9 games once in 8 years. ‘Nuff said.

Rex was better than the two that followed him, and I think he was better than Mangini too. But the fact is, he had two good years, followed for four years out of the playoffs where they got progressively worse.

The problem with Rex is that he always set the bar too low, he didn't learn from mistakes, and his teams were always undisciplined. I liked the energy he brought, but he didn't couple it with flexibility in how he used personnel, or general leadership.

That he’s not a good coach. Hopefully you wanting to re-hire him was a joke.

Bingo. Let’s re-hire him though because he’s better than Adam Gase.

I usually agree with you Boozer, but this time we're miles apart. Rex was way over his head as a HC, and frankly I'm not sure how good he was as a DC. At this point he's best left in the past.

I'm hurt CC lol. I understand everyone's logic when it comes to Rex he was polarizing. I just have no recent memories of the Jets in a playoff game. We have toughness with Bart "Can't Wait" Scott, Dustin Keller, Wilkinson, Ferguson, Revis. We just haven't had a team like that in a long time.

A couple of plays go our way and we might of had 2 SBs under Rex, in my opinion he got the best out the team. Sure he lacked in areas, but overall not that bad a coach. He was last coach we’ve had that gave us an identity! His drafting hurt us, too much Defense, and missed on picks!

Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelers!:D

Rex was one-dimensional and a one trick pony - all he had going for him was an ability to sometimes get his team to over perform, but he did nothing to make the overall team better. And worst of all was that because he did have a little success it masked the fact that he was never going to get them to win a SB. He should've been fired two years before he was.
