If we sign this guy I will be fuckin stoked.

This is EXACTLY the type of coach we need. Someone who is a motivator and has huge energy on the sideline. There is so much good about Saleh. There's a reason he is one of the most sought after coach right now in the NFL

I find very little if any relationship between selecting a top coordinator from either side of the ball and assume the other side will be ignored. Either you are head coach material or you are not, and if you are you will be involved with the entire spectrum. If you are not you will be your typical ex HC of the Jets like Rex or Bowles or Gase or you name it, unable to deal with the big picture no matter what side you grew up in.
HC material implies to me leadership and big picture vision, which is exactly what JD is looking for. So if you are DC, I expect to see in your resume broad vision in your area of responsibility, and vice versa for the OC. Sorry but big picture in offense pre supposes to me you develop the schemes and plays and call the shots depending what the defense give you. Thus my question mark with Bienemy, yet I see that leadership quality with Saleh, Smith, and Daboll for example. When you change defensive schemes three consecutive years to accommodate personnel strengths and maintain or improve your performance, defying adversity, well that is what I want to hear. And that is what Saleh bring to the party as an example.

Looks like what they said is true. They were looking to hire literally anyone who is better than Manish Mehta.

Are they flying him in from San Fran or Detroit?

Tbh, this makes a difference for me because it could be very mutual if he is on a 6 hour flight

Shanahan raves about this guy. Says he’s super knowledgeable about all three phases. He played TE in college. Values respect and is respected in turn. Not the one to chew out his players, in his eyes they’re grown men and grown men don’t want to be treated like toddlers who need a scolding.

I’ve also heard he can come off a little bit aloof to non-football people. Likely why he supposedly bombed the Detroit interview if ownership interviewed him and why JD called him in for interview number two so promptly.

The potential coaching staff gets me more excited than Saleh does. The only thing is that I hope we get some experience somewhere on the staff. Maybe Boyer is retained? Idunno.

Rookie head coach with rookie coordinators. At least they're coming from a staff of one of the bright young offensive minds in the game.

Should see a massive scheme switch on offense though. Zone running game although I'm not entirely sure how that fits with the big boy at left tackle.

Rex was DC for 3 top 5 defenses, also impressive. And Rex wasn't a bad coach - took the Jets to 2 AFC finals. No other coach did that. He just got burned out eventually and didn't have a good QB. With good QB during Rex Ryan years we win SB. And I believe we will pick a much better QB than Sanchez in this draft.

I think an important part about a coach is to be a good leader and also be good at your job. By all account Saleh is a good leader, and going to SB and having top 5 defenses multiple times give him top credentials at his job. He is pretty young as well, brings a culture change, high energy, players are ready to go to war with him. I would have liked experience with young QB, which is why Daboll is pretty high on the list, but look at his likely offensive coordinators: Kafka and LeFleur. I feel pretty comfortable with a QB with these guys.

What exactly are you looking for from former coordinator that Saleh is missing?

Heard he's a real solid guy and players play hard for him. That is exactly what we need to be surrounded by competent assistant coaches. 2nd interview must really be serious biz.

I’d be onboard with Saleh no doubt.
He will need a good supporting coaching staff, but so does everyone.
He fits the bill as a motivator and CEO type.

Players and fans would love this guy.
Enough of the Mangini and Gase types, sign me up.

Honestly has any coach who was being interviewed for a promotion have anyone say anything negative about them?

It’s a good ole boys network, it’s not that I don’t trust Shanahan, but he could be a horrible coach and still get a glowing recommendation from the staff he is working for.
