Studs Chris Herndon - 9 targets catching 7 of 63 and a TD where he went up over the middle got it and held on through a nasty hit. Herndon has looked like his old self the past few games which bodes well for 2021 after an awful start to the season Ty/josh adams - with gore out the 2 combined for 92 yards on 22 carries and a TD. both averaged over 4 YPC. I think they both earned roster spots for 2021 Maye - was all over the field had 10 tackles 1 for a loss and was just making an impact all game. Huff - got a sack and a TFL on a limited snap count. looked good for an UFA rookie Luvu - 5 tackles all solo 1 TFL and a sack. Joe Douglas - for firing gase right after the game Duds Gase - the offense went awful again. very conservative, no motion, late to get calls in again and only put up 14 points. was the perfect end for him as a coach here Darnold - man those 2 INTs were killer. As much as I hate to say it, darnold has looked awful this year. JD is gonna have a tough choice to replace him or not by drafting wilson or fields. But at this point replacement is probably the best choice GVR - came back off of IR and got the starting nod at RG and was god awful yet again. I've never seen a guard get blown by so easily and so often. He should get cut. i'd rather keep elfien and alex lewis and see if clark can outplay one of them and draft another OG or sign a guy like thuney or schreff. we need to replace GVR as a starter though CBs/ frank bush - what an awful job defending the pass. newtown who has been garbage all year long was allowed to go 21/30 for 242 yards and 3 TDs with 0 INTs and he caught a TD where nobody guarded him.
If GVR even sniffs NYJ training camp 2021, - it might be time for me to give up on this team. CAN ANYONE DOCUMENT A CAMERON CLARK SIGHTING? We passed on Kevin Dotson (Steelers) & Michael Onwenu (Patriots) + took Clark instead. He didn't see the field. Da fuk?
Good post G&C. Herndon is like the guy who shows up for the party when everyone is getting ready to leave. But he made that long journey from thee duds to the studs. We have what should be 4 backups starting on o-line. Just because some of them are serviceable doesn't mean they don't need to be upgraded.
Agree on all points and thanks again for posting...I really like these post game reviews Herndon finally looked like his rookie season...only took him 16 games! I don’t know what has been up with him all year as he’s been terrible, so it would be great if he can play like this going forward. interesting point the announcers were talking about a lot yesterday about the lack of pre snap motion and shifts. I think it was actually Jay Feely saying it (a kicker!) but he made a good point about how using motion and shifts would really help a young QB read the defense. Interesting that a supposed offensive head coach couldn’t figure out a way to help his struggling young QB with something so simple. same with the running backs....both looked so much quicker than our legendary 37 year old back. Why Gase kept starting Gore is beyond reason...they both averaged more YPC than Gore. They should have been splitting the load all year once we released Bell. just so many reasons to be glad that Gase is gone. Props also to Huff...who has been on the periphery and finally got his sack. That’s one more than freaking Vernon Gholston got in his entire career (props to Bradway on that one I believe!). I’d probably add Zuniga to the the duds list, but when you’re a third round pick and the only time your name gets called all year is on a penalty, that’s not a good sign. I get he was injured most of the year, but he has produced basically nothing all year....not looking good on this pick.
