I watched him on that QB1 show on Netflix and so followed his career a bit after he went to college - he looks really good
Have come to the conclussion that the dude just cant stay healthy or consistently stay on the field. The other portions of the debate are all irrelevant if hes not playing.
Darnold seems he would be much more comfortable on the west coast with an offense which has already had a head start on the rebuild. A low 2nd Rounder is probably the best you can hope for at this point, unless the Jets sweeten the deal by adding a draft pick or a regular and requesting a first in exchange. Regardless of Jets draft position, all indications point to Darnold being moved.
Sam will still be here. We're not going to get the #1 pick or Lawrence, so I would imagine that we're going to be going through another season where they attempt to get something out of Darnold.
San Francisco doesn't need a project. They need a ready to go NFL starter and they'll be 12-4. There are much better options out there for them than Darnold. Maybe they take a flyer on him to stick him on the bench as their backup. I mean has Nick Mullens really performed that differently than Darnold has?
Trade Sam and the Seattle pick to the 9errs for their now 14th pick if devonta smith is there.Whose says no?
49ers say no. If you go by the trade charts, this equates Darnold to having mid-2nd round value, which I just don't think he has.
I dont know man, I think JD can get a mid 2nd for him and Darnold is probably the 4th best qb in this draft. The other 3 will be gone by then
Not sure...he's WAY more damaged goods than Sam. If I'm the Jets, I am OK making the pick(s) for Sam conditional based on games started over 1 or 2 years and even QB Rating. Under 80.....3rd rounder. 81-85...........2nd Rounder 86-90...........2nd Rounder and 3rd Rounder 91 - 100 ......Low 1st Rounder or two 2nd Rounders in next 3 years. 100 or above......unconditional 1st rounder ASAP plus deferred 3rd rounder.
I mean if they feel their window is now, go get Ryan but spend basically around Jimmy G money. If you want to take a flyer, go get Sam, rehab him in a more QB friendly coaching staff, may pay off down the road.
John Lynch. But not a bad proposal I suppose. But I don't think Sam has anymore than fourth round value at best right now. A couple OK games hasn't changed that.
They can probably do both though. I think Garroppolo is cuttable in the new league year with a $2.8 million dead cap hit. I really think they'll be big players for Stafford or Matt Ryan without having to give up a ton as both those franchises look to rebuild and the players have huge cap hits.
It wont be that cheap. Teams know the 49ers are in win now mode. They would expect at least a 1st for Matt Ryan, and a first, or maybe a second, for Stafford.
It'll be cheaper than you think. The Lions can't cut Stafford until 2023 and they will likely want to rebuild and can't do so until he's off the roster. Same situation with Matt Ryan. I could see a first round pick for either but I doubt much more. Depends on what both franchises want to do though. But after several down losing years with both players accounting for 10-15% of the cap it's pretty much time to move on.
