I wouldnt be surprised if he put up big numbers somewhere else with EXACTLY the same talent, but such is the Jets. Im far from convinced that he would be very good or great for us even with better players around him. Its not like he was SO much better when he finally got his top receivers to throw to vs the crap he had out there before.
Fields with one of the better performances I've seen in the college playoffs last night. I'm amped but let's see what he does vs Alabama. If he gives 75% of that performance last night then we may have another Deshaun Watson on our hands and have to take him at 2. Let's see what he does on the 11th first though. He could crap the bed there.
You very well could be dead on and probably are with this. My fear is the same as passing on Fields and having him be a star only with Sam. If Sam goes somewhere and is great like Brees to NO I hope Fields can be our Rivers.
I don't think anyone disputes that. But it's also terribly hard to rehab from that damage. And the question is whether a franchise wants to take that journey with a fresh prospect that probably rates around the same as Darnold. It's not impossible for Sam to become a good quarterback, but the odds are certainly stacked against him. And franchises are more likely to want to move on and thrust a young quarterback into a better situation and mold them with the coach, system and support that a young quarterback needs rather than putter along with a rehabilitation project.
I don't really think Fields is a sociopath LOL. I'm saying it jokingly because he shows almost no emotion no matter the situation. It'm using it as a compliment. You never see him joining celebrations, showing out for the camera, or yucking it up on the sidelines. He hardly even smiles in big moments. When he (eventually) gets to the endzone for TD celebrations where teammates are jumping around, you see him simply pat the receiver on the head and then turn around and leave. He's like a robot in that regard, and that's a great thing to me.
How is Clemson's defense compared to the last 2 years ? I think it's alot thinnger, esp. on the DL, right ?
Their secondary has more young players. The announcers were talking about it the entire 1st half saying how much Clemson was missing their S who had to sit out the 1st half, as he was the leader, the QB of the secondary. Their LBs are very good. I don't think their DL is quite as good as it has been in past years. I could be mistaken, but I think they've sent a number of DL to the NFL over the last 2-4 years.
I cant argue that... If anyone would know abt throwing for 350 yards 4 TDs in 3 games would be... Browning Nagle LOL.
No need to throw in a pick. Pittsburgh's late 1st Round pick is fair for Sam. I would rather trade Sam to the NFC, but I also want him to land in a good spot and Pittsburgh is clearly a top notch organization.
I was thinking about Pitt being a great place for Sam. I don't see them giving us their first straight up though. But who know what deals JD is capable of?
Plus if we trade down and build a good team we are still are most likely need to package an equal amount of picks to select a qb in the future. We are hopefully not drafting in the top 5 again
Some of you will like this, some of you will bash it - but, for what it's worth... Will Sam Darnold stick around under Joe Douglas’ new regime? There’s a belief around the league that Jets’ General Manager Joe Douglas will stick with QB Sam Darnold for the foreseeable future. Some highlights: “Internally, Joe Douglas looks at Sam Darnold like a quality quarterback. I think that they believe they can get there [win a Super Bowl] with him. The question is, what do they have to surround him with and if the next HC believes in that the same way he does. Are they even drafting at number two or do they trade back and acquire more picks? I think that’s the most likely destination for them right now.” “If it’s me and I’m the Jets, I’m shopping the number [2] pick, sticking with Darnold, and we’re moving backward in the draft. There’s an internal belief in some league circles that the Jets will stick with Darnold. There were teams lining up to pursue Sam Darnold.”
If JD decides to stick with Sam, then I will want him fired unless Sam gets us deep in the playoffs within 2 years. I don't think that will ever happen. I think others around the league may think that because they think the Jets are clueless
I think this is a very real possibility. It's not what I want to have happen, but I sense that this is what Douglas will do.
