Oh I know he will struggle.... This game is the worst thing that could have happened.... We have dumbass decision makers that will let this game cloud there judgement Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
You are nuts. Fields’ value has skyrocketed. If we trade the pick we will get a ton now. This s great.
I'm worried because we are dumb enough to take him.... I hope we don't, but look at our history Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
We are in the best position draft wise that we've been in for years. Our #2 pick can be parlayed into a huge haul of picks. Depending on what JD's plan is, we're sitting pretty. We can't lose where we are right now...
We lose if we actually take fields.... Which we may do now.... And it becomes more likely if Ohio State beats bama Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
I’m not thumping the table for him but I don’t understand why people are so afraid of Fields. Guys can develop in the NFL, and he has all of the tools to do it under the right guidance.
I'm hoping San Francisco gets gah gah over him and offers a trade package similar to the one posted in another thread yesterday. Then the Jets could parlay that into plugging nearly every hole they have and still having extra picks for 2022 to build even further on what would hopefully be a big time improved 2021.
We needed some help and Fields released the Kraken. The value of the second pick is rising faster then a thermometer in Vegas.
I don't think he will struggle all that much. I trust Douglas. If he thinks Fields is the answer at QB, then I believe that Fields will develop and will be our QB going forward. They may get a veteran and let Fields sit for part or all of his rookie season, but if Douglas takes him, I think he will be our starting QB in 2022 and play at a high level.
This is on the money if he follows it up against that Bama D he will have totally won me over. Right now his floor is still Haskins and his ceiling is Russell Wilson. That’s just too much of a gap.. he needs to raise that floor to Darnold then we got something
The only people that think this game has sky rocketed his value are those that over reacted to two bad games. Trevor Lawrence & Justin Fields have been 1 & 2 since high school and every year since.
His floor is not Haskins. Haskins is immobile and never wanted to improve once he received his signing bonus. He was doomed from the start because his family around him (most importantly his Dad) was trying to monetize his celebrity and create an entertainment business. Fields' floor is something like a more mobile version of Geno Smith without the attitude issues. His ceiling is a more accurate and thiccer version of Lamar Jackson.
The little I've read on Fields -- about 0.001% of what JoeD will do if he considers taking him -- says that he is the complete OPPOSITE of Haskins.....more worried about the team, busts his ass, works on tough stuff rather than piss away time in the weight room, etc. I'll never forget the story of Peyton Manning: he had just won his 1st Super Bowl...he already was a HOF'er....and 2 weeks after the Super Bowl he was showing up at the Indy practice site at 6 AM to watch film....on incoming CB's and safeties in the upcoming draft....to see what their tendencies were like. One of the greatest QB's of all time.....a 9-year veteran....and he was "worried" about a bunch of 1st-year players half of whom would be out of the league in 5 years...making sure he had an edge and knew more about them than they would ever know about him. Now, THAT'S dedication and work effort !
I didn't know that about Haskins father. From what I've read about Fields father, he pushes him to work hard and worry about QB'ing, not social media bullbleep.
I also need to swallow my pride, been hard on him here but again..think about that Pockey Lawrence had vs Fields. Fields had all day to throw it felt like. I want to see him under pressure and how he throws to Olave who will be covered by Surtain.
I agree I’d like to see some action vs Alabama, but Clemson actually has a very good defense. They have the highest paid defensive coordinator in all of college football for a reason, and they have plenty of talent. It wasn’t a good game but they are a high powered defense.
