    Fields making NFL throws
    Lawrence making Matt Leinart throws
Not to say Lawrence can’t make NFL throws, just never really needs to on Clemson.

Big stage against top team is hard to ignore,
A good outing against Bama and it is a done deal in my book.
Unless another team backs up a brinks truck to Florham Park.

I was about to say. Lawrence could throw picks for the rest of the game and I would still prefer him but this opens a lot up for us. It makes any of the following scenarios more likely:
    1. We like what we see in Fields and take him. I don't care if its college competition, he is showing he is gutsy as hell you can teach that nor his athleticism.
    2. We trade down a spot or two to take Wilson. IMO this game + the combine will bump Wilson down to QB3 in this because Fields will likely impress more with his combine #'s
    3. Urban Meyer comes to Jacksonville and takes Fields and we luck out in getting Lawrence.

Lastly... I dont think this job has lost much of its luster considering how many amazing options we now have at #2. Hopefully this is still a top coaching destination with Douglas at the helm.

A great outing against Bama and we might end up with Lawrence.

I see no way that if Douglas wants a QB he passes on either Lawrence or Fields.

And every GM wants their own QB, Sam has smelled for 3 years, the Jets take Fields with the number 2

I disagree that Sam has smelled for 3 years, but Fields floor is higher than Sam's ceiling.

I certainly think he would do that no doubt in my mind. Any GM thats worth anything knows you take the QB if you think he will be your franchise QB regardless of the draft spot. I think the loser of this week has been Darnold. The appeal of taking of the big three players on a rookie salary is just too great imo.

That last play is exactly what Lawrence would have looked like on the 2020 Jets.

Fields changed everything this game. No BYU QB is going before him. That 2nd pick just skyrocketed.

Fields and Lawrence are by far the best 2 QB prospects....Trey Lance is a wildcard as it’s hard to compare but Wilson is for sure not on their level. It’s not really close either to me

Trevor threw a lot of ugly passes off his backfoot. It’s clear OSU won the game in the trenches.

I think 5 QBs are going in top 25. It is a good class.

I haven't given up on Darnold, but I just can't see Douglas sticking with him. I thought about this the other night, and I don't see him staying for these reasons.

1- He's got 1 year and an option left. Obviously, a rookie would be more affordable for 5 years.

2- He's never played a full season. Regardless of what the circumstances were, he's missed time in each season.

3- This may ruffle feathers. Even though Darnold's never had a good supporting cast, he's never elevated those around him either. I realize this is debatable but is something that a general manager really needs to consider in retaining a young quarterback.

4- Darnold will be in his third offense in his first 4 years. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but that isn't a good thing in year 4 (The last one I remember was Jason Campbell). Going into your fourth season and having to recreate the wheel with a new offense on a 1+ year deal isn't ideal.

5- Aside from having a lot of cap room, a new head coach will most likely want to go his own direction for a myriad of reasons. (plus, it's a bargaining chip for a better HC)

Weighing out those things, it comes down to whether or not the front office believes they can get the same production (with a possibility of higher upside) from a rookie. For those reasons, I don't think Darnold will be back on the Jets.

I'd love for Darnold to flourish, but historically the cards are stacked against him in my opinion. I still believe in Darnold, but I get the feeling his best chance to succeed will be on another team. Special thanks to Chris Johnson, Mike Maccagnan, and finally "the guru" Adam Gase for screwing the pooch.

I think there could be 6 if you include those 4 and Trask / Mac Jones...Probably not but they’re all good enough prospects
