Yes, the helmet hit too, but when you're trying to wrap the ball carrier up and stop him you use your shoulder pads. The head contact was incidental, not intentional.
He ducked his head. It's stupid considering he hit him in the back but the call was right given the essence of the rule.
It's always been the same in football. It used to be called spearing but it's the same as it ever was. You cannot under any circumstances lead with the crown of your helmet. If your helmet makes contact with the ball carrier it must be with the front/facemask area. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Geez, Fields is legit hurt. He limped away after handing off. I'd hate to see him actually take real contact.
You try to tackle a player coming right at you with your head up, your head and neck can snap backwards and you die on the field or be paralyzed for life. I think the head up thing is not realistic in every situation.
If it's the ribs I don't believe there's any chance of further injury. Just a matter of how much pain he can tolerate. Great look for him doing what he is. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
I don't want to be antagonistic but it's literally the opposite. Head up is the safest way. Leading with the crown can and has left players paralyzed. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Once they get into the locker room for a half an hour and cool down, I'd be surprised if he plays in the 2nd half.
I hadn't considered that. Hopefully they aren't putting his life at risk. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
